Abraham Lincoln once said he would spend the first four hours sharpening his axe if he had six hours to chop down a tree. The sentiment of the quote applies to many, including pro golfers! While golfers don’t go around sharpening their irons, they spend their sweet time picking up the right ones for their bags.
With the Solheim Cup getting scarily closer, a peek into the bags and what clubs they are carrying is undoubtedly called for. And who better to check on than the LPGA great, Lexi Thompson, to see what she’s packing ahead of the international face-off in Andalucia?

As per Golf Monthly’s recent report, Thompson primarily uses clubs from the Cobra/Puma brand. Barring her putter and one of her irons, all her clubs are of this brand. She carries a Scotty-Cameron putter, and her 3-iron is from Srixon. Thompson uses Bridgestone Tour B X balls.
The driver she carries with her is a Cobra Radspeed driver with a 9-degree loft. Since its release in 2021, the club hasn’t left Thompson’s bag. The driver comes with a Fujikura Ventus Black shaft.
Moving on to Woods, Thompson carries a Cobra King LTD, a 3-Wood, and a 5-Wood of the same model. These are older but popular models that have been around since 2015. The 3W has a 12.5-degree loft, and the 5W has a loft of 18.5 degrees. The 5W sometimes makes the cut and sometimes doesn’t.
She carries Cobra King S2 Forged Lexi Blue Irons, which have been part of her apparatus for several years now. Besides that, she has two utility irons. A 3-iron from Srixon and a Cobra King Tec Utility Iron.
The Srixon Z U85 is the longest club in her bag, but it has to compete with the Cobra King Tec Utility to sustain its place in the bag.

Moving on to the Wedges, all of Thompson’s three wedges come from Cobra King again. They vary in degrees of loft and have 51 degrees, 55 degrees, and 59 degrees of loft, respectively. She prefers this setup, which she doesn’t dabble with often.
Now let’s focus on the one odd club from Scotty-Cameron. Thompson uses a Scotty-Cameron GoLo N5 putter, and it has earned its spot. She reportedly tried using the TaylorMade Spider X for a while and switched back.
Lexi Thompson has been a frustrated putter for a while, and perhaps the switchback works better for her. And finally, speaking of balls, she preferred Bridgestone Tour B X balls, which seem to assure her distance and promise a spin around the green as well.
