The Solheim Cup is currently underway, and Team US has taken a commanding 4-0 lead over Team Europe. This is a historic feat for Team US. Captain Stacy Lewis’ selection has proved her right and made America proud. In the historic 4-0 sweep, the foursome was dominated and was a sure shot in the American’s basket.
Despite the intense and entertaining matches, The Solheim Cup has not garnered support as compared to its male counterpart, The Ryder Cup. Stacy Lewis had quite a few things to say about the lack of support and surprisingly there were mixed fan reactions!

Team USA captained by Stacy Lewis is off to a great start. The Americans have won the foursome in a spectacular manner. Lexi Thompson with Megan Khang proved herself a worthy player despite the criticism. Team USA successfully defeated the iconic duo Celine Boutier and Georgia Hall in a battle of birdies.
The US rookie Cheyenne Knight’s final putt against Charley Hull and Emily Kristine Pedersen was intense. While Nelly Korda messed up by hitting the ball in the pool of water, the team quickly bounced back and won 4-0.
Such a historic and intense match, but the support of the community was lacking somewhat. A golf reporter raised the issue on social media. She encouraged the masses to watch the Solheim Cup as much as other events. Commenting on the same, Stacy Lewis showed her disdain over missing a massive opportunity to promote women’s golf with the Ryder Cup. The fanbase also had quite a few things to say about it. Let’s dive deeper.
The fans share mixed opinions after Stacy Lewis’ comments
A fan said that the fans cannot relate to the LPGA player
I think there are sports (tennis, for example) where the women’s game is more watchable for the masses. Unfortunately, I don’t think golf is one of them. I also believe it’s more difficult for most golf fans to connect with and relate to many top LPGA players.

Another suggested a mix between the PGA and LPGA players
I think a mixed match play style event with LPGA and PGA would be awesome. I would watch for sure. Might also help people get more interested on the ladies side too. Location also matters. Imagine a stadium hole like Scottsdale in a match play event

One fan wanted players from Asia and Australia to be a part too
2 points; the Solheim Cup excludes most of the best female players in the world from Asia & Australasia. 2nd, imagine how awesome it would be if there were mixed team events like mixed tennis doubles. Mixed alternate shot would be so cool.

One exclaimed that growing on YouTube would benefit the LPGA
A big missed opportunity to grow the audience is the LPGA YouTube channel. Very frustrating they don’t do better putting together highlights.
Although the Dive On series has been great. Highly recommended.— Robert McGuire (@robertwmcguire) September 22, 2023
A fan wrote that the lack of rivalry makes the game slow
For whatever reason they seem unable to generate the rivalries and competition required to earn that support. The same on the LPGA/LET. Never seems to be a close/surprising finish for example. Poor golf loses rather than great golf wins it seems.
It’s passive and far too slow.— MacAskill (@MacAskill00) September 22, 2023
Another suggestion is a TV broadcast by larger channels
What would help? Free TV! Where is NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX in the world of broadcasting. Streaming and subscriptions lock out large viewer base. Just sayin'. If a national broadcaster won't pick up Solheim Cup, Lewis can scratch her noggin all day, all night.

One fan said that an advertisement on a higher level should’ve helped
The LPGA should step up and advertise. Not a single mention or sign about the upcoming Solheim cup at the Kroger QCC. Then again there was zero advertising from the LPGA, Procter &Gamble, or Kroger about the KQCC here in Cincinnati two weeks ago.
