It takes years of blood and sweat for golfers to mark their names in history. But the game of golf is quite unexpected. There are times when we see young golfers who, at the start of their careers, shock everyone with their abilities. Rose Zhang, a rising LPGA star, belongs to the latter group.

After having an incredible amateur career, Zhang turned professional a few months ago. And her entry into the pro world was anything but simple. She won her first debut event, the Mizuho Americas Open. With that, she became a fierce competitor for many, and that has only continued since. To put the cherry on top, Zhang is now also a part of the US team for the upcoming Solheim Cup in Andalucia, Spain. And the young star can’t help but express her “surreal” joy at the extraordinary feat!

Zhang is currently participating in the Kroger Queen City Championship. Hours before the tee time, she sat for the press conference and opened up about the latest hot topic: her spot on the US team for the prestigious international event.

The one-time LPGA winner obtained her spot in the Solheim Cup for the United States team via her Rolex rankings. With all the hype around the Solheim Cup, a reporter asked her how she felt about securing a slot with only a half-season under her belt.

The LPGA star retorted that she didn’t believe she would be able to claim the spot due to her limited professional experience to date. Even if she did claim the spot, it would be through the captain’s pick. She hadn’t anticipated getting a spot in the rankings. ”It’s been pretty crazy because I expected myself to also be a captain’s pick. Initially, I didn’t even think it was possible for me to claim a spot because I wasn’t an LPGA member to start with,” said the 20-year-old golfer.

Zhang also revealed that Lewis was her captain at the Spirit International, the amateur golf championship. She claimed it was a privilege to play once again alongside her and represent the American side. Despite it being days since she made the cut, the entire experience still feels like a dream for the LPGA star!

The Solheim Cup selection still feels like a dream for Mizuho Americas Open winner

During the interview, the reporter then asks her if she believes that everything that is happening right now is indeed happening. Zhang retorted that, for her, everything was still a dream and an unreal experience. She further believed that it would feel like that until she traveled on the course to pay with her squad.

”It’s almost like a surreal experience that I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like on the first tee. Even in the practice round, going to the venue, it’s going to seem all a dream until it’s over,” said Zhang.
