Lexi Thompson has had a tough year. She was only able to make a few cuts this season, and her last win came back in 2019. However, Thompson’s 2023 season slump did not shake Stacy Lewis and Laura Davis’ confidence in her. After the US skipper praised the LPGA star, now the European team’s vice-captain, Davies. is extending her confidence in her.
During her recent interview with Golf Week, the interviewer asked her about Thompson’s slump and asked if it is possible for any golfer to find their game under so much pressure.
As Davies exuberated confidence in “struggling” Thompson, she said that it is possible for a golfer to find their game at such a pressure-centric stage, and that too “without a doubt.” The 59-year-old then went ahead and shared her personal experience and said, “I’ve gone in not playing well and I’ve played really well and made points and holed putts.”
The 20X LPGA Tour winner said that he can only speak for herself, but she has “seen other players coming in poorly and all of a sudden match play is on the menu and they turn into the players we all think they were.”
It is indeed a great ordeal for Thompson as the rival team’s vice-captain is expressing her confidence in her during her tough time and speaking kindly of her. Not only Davies, but Thompson herself has been very kind to herself this year and did not let anything affect her.
