The Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of Golf: LIV’s ‘Bada** Golfers’ Pull Up Their Boots to Flaunt Soccer Skill Leaving Fans Awe-Struck

LIV Golf has been known to bring about a lot of action to the sports world in addition to its reduced format. From collaborations between golfers to playing scramble golf with club members, the Saudi-backed league and its players have managed to keep its audience entertained at all times.

But it looks like the previous acts were merely a teaser for the future. Our favorite golfers have gone ahead to bring soccer on the course as they try to become the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of the sport. The golf community’s reactions were nothing short of awe and amazement as the golfers saw themselves indulging in some ball game ahead of the LIV golf event in Chicago.

LIV golfers engage themselves in soccer action

In a video posted by the LIV Golf Series, members of the Majesticks GC and the 4Aces GC seem to have a good time with a soccer ball on their feet. Despite being on the course with a club in hand, these players appear to be engaging in a completely different sport quite comfortably.

The post showcased golfers including Ian Poulter, Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson, and Peter Uihlein juggling soccer balls on their feet and knees. Poulter was seen starting off the video with a rainbow flick, a skill that needs quite a bit of practice, followed by Johnson and the rest doing keep-ups.

The post was uploaded with the caption “Football X Golf?” which helped in sprinkling a bit of intrigue to the video. No one in the sports community would be unable to refrain from staring in awe as the golf players skillfully pulled up their boots for the fun act. Moreover, any non-sports enthusiast might even mistake them for skillful soccer players if they watch the video.

This is not the first time athletes or celebrities invoked their inner Ronaldo or Messi. Selena Gomez once took part in a different version of golf mixed with it a tinge of soccer on a Jimmy Fallon Show. But the game was then termed as ‘shoegolf’ which replaced the golf ball with footwear and clubs with their own feet. Fallon and Gomez duked it out on an artificial golf course which led to the actresses’ win in the end.

Mixing golf with a different sport has always kept the community amused and the same was the case with the recent video. Let us take a look at some of the reactions that came from fans as they witnessed the LIV golfers.

Footgolf – a new sport?

As the players from the Saudi-backed league took to the greens, many couldn’t help but comment on their responses which varied from hilarious reactions to those of awe.

The 4Aces GC team was among the first to reply as they boasted themselves of being athletes with a corresponding emoji: “@4acesgc are athletes.” A fan agreed to an extent with the comment as they hilariously mentioned how the 4Aces GC are semi-pro at both the games: “4acesgc semi  pro soccer semi bada** golfers.”

There were even some people who mentioned the advent of a new sport including golf and soccer as they commented, “Footgolf @fifgworld @footgolfchile.”

There were golf fans who compared both the games as they mentioned how one was better than the other, “Golf > Football.”

Some enthusiasts dared the golfers to showcase the same dribbling skills, but this time with a golf ball: “Do it with a golfball….”.

There were people who were dissatisfied with Dustin Johnson for using his knees for the skills but went ahead to hilariously respond to the same: “It’s annoying when people only use there knees lol cmon DJ.”

But while all is said and done, one can’t help but look in awe as golfers flaunt their soccer skills on the course. It makes every golf fan want to show off their expertise on the same.
