Texas witnessed a powerful stroke play for four consecutive days. Sunday welcomed the victory of an old champion whose first PGA Tour win came in 2015. While it wasn’t an easy tournament, especially as the game moved into the playoff, the Argentinian golfer ultimately conquered the Charles Schwab Challenge.

As it appears, the professional golfer followed the example of his compatriot, Lionel Messi. The soccer star led Argentina to its third World Cup victory after a long wait of thirty-six years, with him winning his first ever, completing his trophy cabinet! In a similar fashion, the golfer from Resistencia just recently clinched his second PGA Tour title after a whopping 7-year wait!

Lionel Messi was the center of attention a few months ago when he grabbed his first ever World Cup after a stunning final. But it seems like Messi isn’t the only Argentinian great to bring the country pride. Emiliano Grillo has now done so too! The last time the Argentinian player won on the Tour was at the Frys.com Open in 2015. Now, seven years later, he has gone on to double his PGA Tour title wins and become the second Argentine since Roberto De Vicenzo to take home the Charles Schwab Challenge trophy.

According to the Instagram video posted by the official PGA Tour handle, Grillo’s happiness knew no bounds when he won. After the final round, the 30-year-old commented on his victory and said, “They say second is harder than first, and it definitely was. So, I am on top of the world right now.” Amid his victory celebrations, the humble golfer didn’t forget to pay homage to his roots.

The golfer added, “Makes me think of my family… Me and Alexia, my girl, we had a baby 14 months ago. You know, life changed; perspective changed.” The victor was all class and went on to praise Schenk for his ‘phenomenal shot‘ on the 16th hole. It seems like he certainly respected him for not making his meaningful win easy!

Grillo, of course, is of great caliber and is more than passionate about his game. And this was clearly visible to all on the greens on Sunday as the PGA Tour star got a hold of his nerves and put forth a stunning performance. It was more than impressive of him to not let his double bogey at the 18th hole pull him down. And the golf pro show cased his nerves of steel soon after! He faced off and triumphed against the American golfer Adam Schenk in a two-hole playoff.

With a money pool of 8.7 million dollars, it was obvious for the titlist to take home a huge amount. As the relentless competition authenticated Emiliano Grillo’s victory, it also ensured an impressive $1,566,000 cash prize for him.

Such a huge amount is certain to be surrounded by admirable talent. Hence, it was no surprise when everyone held their breath as the golfers moved toward the second hole of the playoff. And although Grillo walked away with a huge chunk of the purse, Schenk too got his fair share and headed home with nearly a million dollars—$948,300 to be precise!
