Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia was mesmerized by what he saw happen on American soil. It’s not Tiger Woods who has mesmerized him; it’s someone considered one of the greatest soccer players in the history of the game. It’s the one and only Argentine superstar Lionel Messi. 

The soccer genius notched up an extraordinary feat this past Sunday on American soil and LIV defector Garcia was so moved that he couldn’t help but share the magical moment that the whole world witnessed. Let’s dive into the story.

What Tiger Woods is to golf, Lionel Messi is to soccer! Prior to his arrival at Inter Miami, he had already collected an impressive array of trophies. In keeping with his reputation, he reached a significant milestone on Sunday as he clinched his 44th career trophy, his first in the US.

During the Leagues Cup final, the Argentine professional golfer demonstrated his skill by scoring his trademark spot kick in the shootout which his team Inter Miami claimed 10-9. Earlier in the game, he had set the tone by opening the scoring in the 23rd minute with an impressive shimmy and a sublime shot from the edge of the box. It thrilled everyone, including Sergio Garcia.

The LIV golfer was so moved that he shared the reel of Messi’s brilliance on his Instagram handle.  Garcia wrote, “This goal was unreal.” Well, Messi’s fans would undoubtedly relate to Garcia’s emotions. Needless to say, the soccer star once again showed why he is considered the “most decorated player in his sport” in recent years. Whereas, if we talk about the Spanish professional golfer, he was last seen playing in the LIV Golf Invitational Bedminster.

A glimpse into Messi-fan Sergio Garcia’s woes

The 2017 Masters Tournament Winner experienced a relatively average season this year. Out of the eleven events that he participated in, the LIV defector only managed to secure a top-10 finish on two occasions. Additionally, the 43-year-old golfer only qualified for two major tournaments. Unfortunately, he was unable to make the cut at the Masters Tournament but he achieved a T27 position in the US Open.
