The Wells Fargo Championship 2023 wrapped up on 7th May. The Quail Hollow golf course is famously known for its tough 16th, 7th, and 18th holes—nicknamed ‘the Green Mile’. Albeit we saw Wyndham Clark rising to the occasion and winning the cup. Where Clark rejoiced in his first PGA Tour victory, the greens witnessed a bad field day for another player.
This Aussie golfer didn’t get to a good start and made a couple of blunders on the last day of the tournament.
As the final day of the championship was painful for Adam Scott, he found some form on the 15th hole with a birdie. Though the misfortune on the field turned into fan support on Twitter.

Fans relate to PGA Tour Star’s missed shot
The popular podcast, Fore Play took it on Twitter to upload a video of missed short putt via the PGA Tour. The video featured Adam Scott, who had the misfortune of making a bogey on the first hole. The setback had not ended and it was followed by another blow. He missed on the low side as the ball rolled away from the hole. The two-foot, three-inch putt for par wasn’t in his luck.
The tweet captioned, “One of us” received lots of affirmations. The viewers found themselves relating to the unfortunate miss. They couldn’t help but mention how close the missed shot hit home.

Overall, the tweet reflected the essence of social media platforms where audience aims to find relatable content. Adam Scott’s misfortune delivered just that to the fans.
Was the pole vault putter the problem?
Scott finished fifth at the tournament in North Carolina this Sunday. However, the disappointing part of the gameplay was not the loss but the easy putting that the golfer missed. This attracted reaction from everyone especially the fans. Where some of the fans resonated with the on field incident, others couldn’t help but blame the putter Adam was using for his shot. They verbalized, “One of the best swings on tour…. But putts with a stick like that😩”, “Maybe shouldn’t have been using the worlds longest putter”, “No. I don’t have a stupid long putter.“

Alas! This could have been Adam’s chance but the 42-year-old has not won a tournament on the PGA Tour in more than three years. It must be astonishing to see a player of his caliber miss an expected delivery. Indeed, this is the beauty of the game, you never know whose day it is going to be.
