However, a new rumor catching the attention of golf fans is the upcoming LIV league for women. And a former LPGA Winner recently gave her bold stance about the reported league.

Annika Sorenstam spoke up about women’s LIV Golf rumors

There have been talks about an upcoming LIV league for women. However, the news has not become official yet, but a huge amount of sources suggest that it is going to happen very soon. LIV is reportedly coming up with a new league especially designed for women golfers, and it might be tough competition for the LPGA Tour.

However, LPGA commissioner, Mollie Marcoux Samaan, recently said that she would like to talk to LIV Golf. And her statement was supported by the 72-time LPGA Tour champion, Annika Sorenstam. The golfer believes that the LPGA Tour commissioner needs to listen to potential opportunities and act accordingly. Her statements also displayed a sense of fear for the future of the LPGA Tour.

“If it’s the money that they have on the LIV, you know they’re going to crush the LPGA,” the former champion said“Hopefully they have the intention of growing the game and working together with the LPGA.” She also said that crushing the LPGA Tour would be of no use to anyone including the Saudi circuit. She said, “There’s so much negativity around this.,” pointing towards cleaning the image of the game by working together.

What would happen if the LPGA Tour and LIV Tour don’t work together?

There is no certainty as to what might exactly happen without a merger if Greg Norman comes up with a league for women. But looking at what the PGA Tour has been going through ever since the new league was launched, it is not hard to imagine what would happen to the LPGA Tour.

Looking at the current scenario, it would not be wrong to say that the LPGA Tour has only two options. They can either shake hands with the LIV Golf league, or they can expect complete destruction soon after LIV makes its move. After all, with Saudi Arabia’s petrodollars, Greg Norman’s league is inevitable.
