However, the veteran faced a nightmare when he entered the Fortinet Championship 2022 ranked World 185. Even though the dip out of the top 50 continued in 2021 and 2022, the 34-year-old steadily sailed toward that mark in 2023.

His resilient drive to seat 53 in OWGR was witnessed at the Zozo Championship 2022, and the RBC Heritage 2023. After the 71-68-68-69 shot at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship, Fowler fans received a piece of big news on Twitter.

Fowler’s achievement at Quail Hollow this Sunday was the glimpse of the star we knew. Consequently, it led the OWGR guru on Twitter Nosferatu, this morning, to report that the fan favorite is back in the Top 50 in the world since the December of 2020. But did the announcement end there? No! Fans took it upon themselves to provide their insight. A couple of fans tweeted, “Doesn’t count. Asterisk“, and “Asterisk rankings. Everyone with a backbone will admit this“.

But it did not deter Fowler’s fans from displaying their happiness and showering him with love. They said, “Yay!”, ” Woot!”,  “WE BACK!!!”, “Don’t care about the * Rickie is back to playing in majors”, and “So happy for him i a big fan og his”.

The last time Rickie was among the World’s Top 50 was back in December 2020 at No. 49. Since then, he has mostly toiled to reach that professional place again. His efforts also included switching his trainer to Butch Harmon and adopting a new regime.
