‘So Dumb’: Golf World Left Triggered After Fan Disturbs Rickie Fowler in $8.8M Event

After the completion of the coveted US Open, the PGA Tour is currently engrossed in the Rocket Mortgage Classic 2023. Rickie Fowler is currently having the best time at the $8.8M event. In order to take the lead in the tournament at 20 under par on Saturday, Fowler birdied six of his final eight holes, giving him another opportunity to snap a four-year winless streak on the PGA Tour.

His stellar performances have been gaining a lot of attention, including from golf diva Paige Spiranac. Fowler is definitely the darling of the crowd. However, sometimes the loud cheers of the crowd might work against their favorite stars! 

Rickie Fowler gets distracted by his fan

Despite playing well and holding the lead in Round 3, Fowler appeared to be bothered by his supporters, which was captured on camera. He was finding it difficult to focus on his shot. One of his fans uploaded a video to Reddit with the caption, “Here’s Ricky Fowler blaming me for his shitty tee shot….”

The golfer can be seen in the footage taking his tee shot and then pointing his finger in the direction of the camera. The noises around him appeared to annoy him. Undoubtedly, the distraction interrupted his flow while making shots.

The irony is that a few hours ago, one fan got his attention because of his distinctive style. He fully embraced the distinctive look of Rickie Fowler. He wore an orange Callaway t-shirt, the traditional tangerine color associated with Fowler. Definitely, fans’ presence can be a huge factor in an athlete’s performance. Fans had a lot to say on the fans’ video and interruption.

Many people expressed their displeasure with the disruptions that supporters cause on the course in their comments. Some people even tried to guess what the fan might have truly yelled at that point. They commented:

”Fans need to learn to stay quiet during the game”

”Cringe attendees yelling every shot makes golf unwatchable”

”Hate when dudes yell sh*t like that. So dumb”

”People that yell after a tee shot are the golf equivalent of glass bangers at hockey games. Bunch of simple minded people.”

“Did you yell “GET IN THE HOLE” as he was teeing it up?”

”He probably yelled “mashed potatoes” when the ball left the club”

While many said that Fowler wasn’t actually pointing a finger but was actually signaling that the ball went out on the left side.

”FYI he is signaling that it is going left.”

”This is what pro golfers do when they miss hit. He is signaling to a volunteer on the left side of the hole to make sure people move so they don’t get hit.”

”Where did the shot go, maybe he was pointing left cos he hooked it?”

”He’s clearly signaling the ball is going left. Some people get so baited these days.”

”Do people not understand this is a joke? Rickie is pointing left because his ball is going that way.”
