We all know that Tiger Woods’s Hero World Challenge is just around the corner, and this year’s field is looking stronger than ever. Headlined by World No. 1-ranked Scottie Scheffler, the tournament promises to be an exciting display of golfing talent. Scheffler, who won Olympic Gold in Paris in August, will be joined by a host of other top golfers, including eight members of the United States’ victorious 2024 Presidents Cup team.

But while the Hero World Challenge is shaping up to be an unforgettable event, not everyone is lucky enough to receive an invitation. PGA Tour Pro Michael Kim, for example, will not be participating in the tournament this year. Earlier this year, Kim was seen struggling with injuries, and it seemed like the problem had persisted. The one-time PGA Tour winner had been dealing with an upper back/neck injury. In a post shared on his official X handle, Kim expressed his true condition, revealing that he could only putt and chip due to the injury. Perhaps the injury was still bothering him.

However, Kim’s attention has been diverted to a rather unusual and intriguing topic. Recently, he met a magician/mentalist at a Binary Defense event, and what happened next left him stunned. Kim was asked to pick a book from two options, and then to select a random multi-syllable word from the chosen book. Despite the seemingly impossible odds, the magician/mentalist was able to guess the word in just one try. “I recently met a magician/mentalist at a @Binary_Defense event… he held up two books and told me to pick one. I pick a book which has about 250 pages… I’m told to pick a random multi-syllable word… I flipped around and picked a random word and he guessed the word in one try 🤯 How does this happen?”, he wrote on X.

The word, unbelievably, was “handkerchief”. Kim is still trying to wrap his head around how this feat was achieved, and we can’t blame him as it’s a truly mind-boggling display of mentalism. It seems like the golfer is really enjoying his time off the greens and isn’t bothered to not be included in the upcoming tournaments.

Kim’s travel schedule is a testament to the grueling nature of life as a PGA Tour pro. With over 40,000 miles traveled, Kim has spent a significant amount of time on planes, trains, and automobiles.
