LIV Golf is all set for its fourth season. With the off-season going on, it is once again time for the Saudi-backed league to take in new names and, well, for the golf world to speculate who will make the shift from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf. This year’s speculations have been revolving around PGA Tour Pro Tony Finau making the big money move and joining Jon Rahm‘s Legion XIII. This “drama” came to light after Finau withdrew from the Hero World Challenge.

But as it turns out, the 35-year-old has finally cleared the air of confusion in the golf world. Finau underwent surgery on October 15 to repair a torn meniscus and remove cartilage in his left knee.

“From what my doctor told me it was pretty standard clean up. He said it would be helpful and so I did it,” he told Golfweek via phone on Wednesday. The PGA Tour referred to these rumors as “not credible,” and “not true.” He said that these are coming from random people.“I’m more than happy where I’m at on the PGA Tour and looking forward to 2025. When I tee it up in Maui, it will all go away, so, I don’t worry about it one bit,” continued Finau. Last year as well there were rumors of his defection that he put to rest via Instagram. As he began his 2024 season, he wrote,  “I’m excited for 2024 and looking forward to playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour!

What’s your perspective on:

Will Tony Finau follow the path of Rahm and Koepka, or stay true to the PGA Tour?

Have an interesting take?

Well, the golf community has been in tatters with several big names making the move. And as it turns out, they are no longer in the position to trust another player not making the move.

Fans are still certain that Tony Finau will make the move

Earlier in 2023, Jon Rahm was given an offer to join LIV Golf, back when he was No. 2 on the OWGR list. He declined the alleged $400 million offer by the league and showed his loyalty towards the PGA Tour. He even stated that no matter what happens, the PGA Tour has given him the platform to play some of the greatest golf, and staying on the Tour would help him with better opportunities and allow him to win more Majors.

The LIV Golfer, a few months later, on December 8, 2023, announced his move to LIV Golf for a seven-figure deal. This came as a huge shock to the entire golf community. Especially because he was so stern about his stance of not making the shift. Taking to such instances, the fans left comments like,Said by everyone just before they went to LIV 😂” and “That’s what they always say. Can’t wait for him to make the move.”

The Hero World Challenge is the final event of the season. It’s an unofficial Tour event, but a highly attractive one. After that, all the players will begin preparing for the 2025 season. Even Tony Finau himself said that all the rumors will disappear once he tees off in Maui in January. But the fans are pretty certain that the Hero World Challenge will just be the perfect time to announce his move, and he is just waiting for the PGA Tour season to get over. Pretty much like most of the golfers who made the move did. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “Till next week.”, and another wrote, “Lies..”

Tony Finau is a father of five children. He has been playing for the PGA Tour since 2007 and has been able to grab only six victories so far. Being a family of seven members, the hefty money, according to some of the fans, would come in as a big help. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “5 kids, 6pga wins, 7 days until he gets 8 figure offer….see ya big tone 😭”.

While another pointed out a flaw in his speech and simply said, “‘Not credible. still isn’t as convincing or definitive as ‘bullshit” or ‘100% completely false.”

Do you think just like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, or Sergio Garcia, even Tony Finau will go against his words and start playing for LIV Golf? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
