Winning the Masters is at the top of the bucket list of almost every golfer. Sergio Garcia achieved this feat after winning his maiden Major at Augusta National back in 2017. While the triumph may have brought in massive expectations from the Spaniard to master the course in the next editions, the reality has turned out to be much worse than one anticipated.
After turning pro back in 1999, it took Garcia 18 years to grab hands over the first Major silverware. While he always had the talent and hype around him, Sergio required a playoff win against the British golfer, Justin Rose to win his only Green Jacket.
Following his maiden Major victory, fans expected Garcia to return to Augusta National and flourish on the legendary golf course. However, it’s been six years since the win, and the expectations from the LIV Golf star are slowly diminishing.

Sergio Garcia’s troubles at the Masters continue
Before his Masters win in 2017, Garcia missed the cut at Augusta National only five times during 18 appearances. Nonetheless, Sergio has missed the cut four times after his victory six years ago. While he missed the 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he did finish tied to 23rd position last year.

With a decent finish in the previous edition, fans expected the golfer to continue his good run again this year. But after a seven-over-par total score, Sergio Garcia has missed the +3 cut line. Compared to his poor second round, the 43-year-old had recorded a decent two over par in the first round.
But the misery got worse for the LIV Golf star on Friday, as he started his second round with back-to-back bogeys at the Flowering Peach and Flowering Crab Apple. He continued the bogeying another five holes in the round. The poor run of form confirmed Garcia’s exit from Augusta National before the weekend.

Following his big move to LIV Golf last year, Garcia was heavily scrutinized for his move. Though many LIV detectors are worried about not receiving any Augusta National after falling below the top 50 golfers in the OWGR, the Spaniard won’t have any issue in receiving an invite.
With his Green Jacket win in 2017, Sergio will now receive a lifetime invitation to the first Major of the season. But with his poor run of form, will the 43-year-old want to return to Augusta National? Though his last professional win came back in 2020 at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship, Garcia still thrives for more glory.
