Greg Norman & LIV Golf are on the hunt. The Saudi-based golf league is looking for new recruits to join their promotion. Norman’s adversary, Jay Monahan is on the receiving end of this situation as the PGA Tour is in threat of losing some of their top talents.

Amid rumors of Tony Finau jumping ship, some speculations suggested that the LIV Golf commissioner was targeting Viktor Hovland. The world no. 8 had many admirers in the PIF-funded league including Norman, who seemed to be quite eager to onboard the 27-year-old.

Hovland, along with 4 other players was rumored to be considering joining LIV Golf. In fact, the Norwegian had also suggested that he would be open to seeing what Greg Norman & co. had to offer. However, all these rumors have now been put to rest thanks to a recent revelation about the 6X PGA Tour winner.

Greg Norman’s endless pursuits

The biggest name probably on Greg Norman’s list is Rory McIlroy. It was rumored that the Irishman was offered a contract upwards of $850 million by LIV Golf. The tweet shared by @FlushingItGolf featured a closeup of McIlroy with the LIV Golf logo on the top-right corner. Moreover, it was originally shared by the official LIV Golf X handle. This received a strong reaction from the fans who claimed that the 35-year-old had “Done a deal.” However, Rory McIlroy has so far ignored the claims as he has been busy with dominating the DP World Tour.

Another major star who has caught LIV Golf’s attention is world no. 7, Hideki Matsuyama. Ever since LIV Golf began, Greg Norman has been trying to attract the Japanese pro to Saudi Arabia. Norman had stated his intentions of wanting to host an event in Japan with Matsuyama as the face. Now that Viktor Hovland is out of the picture, at least for another year, the LIV Golf commissioner might shift his focus to getting the 32-year-old on board. Only time will tell if it will actually happen.
