The Shriners Children’s Open, the third event in the inaugural FedEx Cup fall season, will return to TPC Summerlin on Oct 12. The second event at the Country Club of Jackson Mississippi witnessed a late drama as Luke List prevailed over four golfers in a five-man playoff. Sahith Theegala, on the other hand, notched his maiden victory in the Fortinet Championship at the start of the fall season.

At Las Vegas, 132 golfers will joust for their share in the hefty $8.4 million purse, with the winner taking a large 18% chunk of it alone. Besides the winner also receives FedEx points, and the final point tally after seven events will be a deciding factor in sealing 125 players’ fate for the next season.

At first, golf fans thought that the defending champion Tom Kim would be the center of attraction. Undoubtedly, it will be a point of interest to see whether the top-ranking player in the field can defend his title and increase his PGA Tour win tally to three. Nevertheless, the South Korean golfer has to share the limelight with LPGA star Lexi Thompson, and European Ryder Cupper Ludvig Aberg.

The 11-time LPGA-tour winner is set to become only the fifth female golfer in the modern era to tee it up against men. Riding on her resurgent form since the Solheim Cup, the 28-year-old has ended a drought of a top-10 finish by sealing the fifth spot at the recently concluded Ascendants LPGA Benefitting Volunteers of America.

Whereas, the Swedish sensation is coming on the back of a stellar season that saw him lift the Ryder Cup with his European peers in his maiden appearance. The European Masters Champion will look for his maiden PGA Tour victory which was denied by Luke List in the Sanderson Farms Championship.

List, also set to appear at the TPC Summerlin, will be eying his third PGA Tour victory. Aside from them, Ben Martin, a former champion of the tournament, Webb Simpson, the 2013 champion, and Martin Laird, the two-time champion, will also vie for the title.

The format remains the same as in previous years. 132 players will start playing for the 72 holes in the open format. After 36 holes, the top 65 players and ties will make the cut. In case of a tie after the final round, playoff hole 18 will be played over and over unless a winner is decided.
