Did you know, that John Daly will not be playing the 517 Golf event scheduled for this week in Michigan? At first, the rumors were out that the 2-time major champion, who has collaborated with 517 Golf for a 4-man scramble with a Pizza Wars Golf, will be postponed as the PGA Tour pro was injured.
The tickets for the events were over $500 per team, and those who purchased them were promised to meet and greet Daly in Otsego County.
Thus, the cancellation of the events rightfully upset many fans of the pro, as it was done by 517 Golf through email. However, in a shocking turn of events, the 58-year-old revealed that he was not the reason why the 517 Golf event was canceled. John Daly took to his X handle and wrote, “Individuals associated with #517Golf have knowingly spread false information suggesting I am responsible for the cancellation of an event due to a “supposed injury & surgery.” In reality, Daly explained that he was not injured in any way.

Moreover, he argued that he was going to play the Ally Challenge in Michigan in the same time frame and was preparing for more PGA Tour Champions events in the future. If he was injured, he wouldn’t be able to play other events. Hence, Daly clarified in the same post that he was not responsible for the cancellation of the event, “I am shocked and disappointed that unscrupulous individuals have chosen to tarnish my reputation and defraud my amazing fans!!” and appreciated those who supported him.
This was not the first time John Daly was promised to be a part of the 517 Golf event. Last year as well, the 58-year-old was in Michigan for the August event, which was played as scheduled. After Daly’s statements, the 517 Golf has not yet issued their statement or revealed what was the real reason behind the event’s cancellation.
Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that individuals associated with #517Golf have knowingly spread false information suggesting I am responsible for the cancellation of an event due to a “supposed injury & surgery.” In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. I…

When John Daly cautioned fans about a replica
In his decades-long career, John Daly won two majors, the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship. And as the Open winner, Daly was allowed to keep the Claret Jug for a year, after which he bought a replica of the trophy to remember his victory. However, in 2018, the Heritage Auction posted a bid for supposedly the same trophy, stating that it was the “one and only Daly Claret Jug.”

The bid was going well above $30,000 when John Daly chimed in and clarified that it was indeed not his trophy. He called it a “FALSE advertisement” in a tweet posted on X and said, “You’re selling a replica 12 inch trophy…I will now and forever keep my 2 babies always!” The auction remained live even after the statement of Daly. However, the trophy was probably retracted from the site, with Daly’s clarifying that he never sold his trophy.
Furthermore, he had argued that he would want to sell the most treasured moment of his life ever and was frustrated with fake sellers and replicas. The 58-year-old has always been bold and truthful when it comes to his fans, and this time as well, he put forth the truth that was damaging his image and hurting his fans.
