Jack Nicklaus once acknowledged the efforts of his wife
Sleepless nights become common when a person is playing at the same level as Nicklaus did. The retired professional golfer’s busy schedule kept him up for more than one night.
Through this stressful journey, his only constant was his wife, Barbara. She values his comfort and time so much that when she was once suffering through a miscarriage she took a step that many would term as “extreme”. This happened when Jack Nicklaus was playing at the 1967 Sahara Invitational in Las Vegas
Barbara chose Nicklaus’s peace over her own and let him have his much-awaited night’s rest when she was undergoing a miscarriage. The famous golfer’s wife told him only the next morning to take her to a hospital. Nicklaus acted upon it as soon as he got to know about it, and he took care of her throughout the process.

He said, “I shot 62 on Saturday, and Barbara’s pregnant. She’s having a miscarriage during the middle of the night and she didn’t tell me. She ended up finally waking me up at about 8 o’clock in the morning. She wanted to make sure I got a good night’s sleep…Of course, then I won the golf tournament and then I was Mr. mom for about the next week.”, during an interview with Graham Bensinger
All in all, Barbara’s support surely played a quintessential role in Nicklaus’s success. In fact, Nicklaus ended up winning the invitational.
