It might startle some people that women still feel they are dominated in society and undermined. But if you closely follow how online fans treat female stars in popular domains, you might find the claims valid.

This is especially true for women in sports, where the perspective towards the players shifts completely with gender. While this isn’t true for all fans, many fans have a split-screen perspective with female sports stars. LPGA and LET star Cheyenne Woods has expressed her thoughts on the matter boldly.

Golf Digest has compiled the thoughts of women in sports who had intense stories to tell about gender bias in the industry from fans. Among the names were golf’s own Michelle Wie West and Cheyenne Woods as well.

Cheyenne Woods, Tiger Woods‘ niece, had some thought-provoking and concerning facts to share with the public. To start off, she had an issue with rude compliments. She pointed out that being shocked to find a female golfer playing well‌ is disheartening.

“Pretty early on, I would get, ‘Wow, you move it pretty well for a girl,’” she confessed. Woods further stated how disappointing it was for her. “Like it was astonishing that a woman could be good.”

Addressing the frequently received comment about how quitting social media is an easy way out, she had a response. She explained how sponsors require a certain amount of social media activity from the stars. She also pointed out that sponsorship deals don’t come by as often for female stars as for male stars. Cheyenne Woods also addressed how attention often shifts to different aspects of the player based on gender.
