LIV Golf rebel, Sergio Garcia, recently revealed his plan to resign from the DP World Tour. He disclosed it through one of the reputable Spanish news outlets. However, according to the latest reports, the golfer has changed his mind and has a strong reason for it!
“That (resigning from DP World Tour) obviously meant not being eligible for the Ryder Cup,” the Spaniard explained why he changed his decision that he revealed after the 150th Open Championship. “Because you have to be a member.”

Garcia is one of the most successful players in the history of the Ryder Cup tournaments. He has represented Team Europe 10 times in the team event; notably, he has never missed the competition since he turned professional in 1999.
The 1-time major champion is the most valuable player on Team Europe. Yet, he decided to leave the DP World Tour as he didn’t feel welcome there since he joined the rival league for millions. However, according to ESPN, the golfer wants to continue playing for the Ryder Cup, thus, he decided to stay on the Tour.
Jon Rahm made Sergio Garcia change his decision
“Thanks to the things that Jon Rahm said… I’m going to hold off on that,” Garcia revealed. According to the 42-year-old, Rahm’s statement and talking with other European Tour players restrained him from resigning.

Even though Rahm doesn’t plan to join the rival league, he recently revealed that he is not against it and hopes all three Tours can work together in the future. He also sounded upset about the way the DP World Tour treated the fellow Spanish player.
Rahm said in a press meet after the British Open, “they (Tour) turn their backs on him that way doesn’t seem right to me.” Furthermore, he stated, “It hurts me.”
