Sergio Garcia is playing on the DP World Tour! Are you wondering if you are dreaming? Well, not exactly! Fans have many reasons to believe it is not true. The biggest being the Spanish golfer’s loyalty to LIV Golf. Garcia is currently the captain of Fireballs GC, and his team is performing well, too. Oh, and he also moved away from the European Tour.

Garcia, along with many other European players, was a part of the group that resigned from the DP World Tour for LIV Golf.  But now it seems that the Spaniard’s split was temporary, and he is planning to return to the European golf scene.

The Spanish golfer recently sat down for an interview on ‘The Rick Shiels Golf Show’. During his interview, the topic of his resignation from the DP World Tour came up. The LIV pro went on to shed light on the matter and revealed how he did not want to give up his DP World Tour membership. But the number of fines piling up on him for competing in LIV Golf made it impossible for him to continue being a part of the European circuit.

Now the 44-year-old has declared he will be making his way back to the European circuit to play in the Masters and the Ryder Cup next year. He said, “I’m gonna be a member again of the European tour next year, so I will play my four events or something like that. So maybe if I do well in those, maybe I can get myself in somehow.”

While Sergio Garcia has made up his mind that he will play on the DP World Tour, is he allowed to do so?

Well, he has paid the fines totaling $880,000, making him eligible to apply. However, he has missed the deadline of November 19, 2023, to play in 2024. This means he can apply for the 2025 season.

LIV golfers’ chances of playing in the 2025 Ryder Cup

However, applying next year will diminish his chances to play in the 2025 Ryder Cup. According to Golf Digest, the interview is from November 2023, meaning Garcia wanted to play from this year onwards on the European circuit.

Unfortunately for him, by joining LIV Golf and resigning from the DP World Tour, the 44-year-old killed his chances to play in the 2023 Ryder Cup. But he wants to return in 2025 and has a lot of factors in his favor. The only factor lacking is his membership in the European circuit.

He is even mentally prepared for the next year. In the same interview, he said he is ready for any heckles the US fans throw at him for the 2025 Ryder Cup. Will Sergio Garcia be able to play in the 2025 Ryder Cup? Only time will tell.
