A long list of top-ranking players like Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, and many others have qualified to play next week in the limited-field event. They will all enjoy their game against the scenic background of Hawaii Island, for the Kapalua Plantation Course, on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, provides beautiful scenery for every hole.

Located at 2000 Plantation Club Drive, 877-Kapalua, the course is designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore and spread across a 7596-yard par-73 layout. The greens, moreover, are structured in a way that supports amateurs in the sport too.

Thanks to its smooth greens, the course has also seen many low scores, the lowest of which was recorded by Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, and Matt Jones in 2022, when the three shot 61 at the TOC that year.

The course is extremely well-maintained and widespread, and it even ranks 40th on Golf.com’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play. It also has an adjoining view of the sea, undoubtedly providing a peaceful and motivating environment for the players. Before the 2020 edition of the Sentry, the course was given a facelift by its designers, who re-turfed the course. They worked on all its bunkers and greens and rearranged the shapes and textures. Crenshaw and Coore also made sure to add more tee boxes and increase the volume of putting surfaces as well.

The course is inside the Kapalua Resort, which is surrounded by beaches and developed specifically with the intention of recreation and leadership. Besides golf, it also offers space for other activities like tennis, hiking trails, and zip lines. Moreover, surprisingly, the Plantation Course isn’t the only golf course in it.

In addition to the Plantation Course, Kapalua also features a set of adjoining greens, the Bay Course. This course has hosted many PGA Tours as well as a few LPGA events. Moreover, it was on this same bay course that the now-LIV Golf chief, Greg Norman, found his first American victory.

One of the good things about these courses is that they are not just reserved for special tournaments. The course is also open to common people on regular days who can avail of all the facilities. It’s clear at the Kapalua that it caters to both laymen and pros; perhaps that’s why the TOC in Hawaii is one of the most anticipated events of the season!
