According to a report in The Straits Times, last year, Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore signed a multi-year deal with the breakaway league and will be hosting a tournament for six years until 2028. This is the second time the par-71 golf course will host LIV Golf Singapore. The venue runs 7,406 yards and is ranked as the best golf course in 2023 by the World Golf Awards among all the other Singapore courses.

The Club has hosted both the DP World Tour, like the Porsche Singapore Classic, and the LPGA Tour’s HSBC World’s Womens Championship in the past. Its history dates back to 1982, designed by Ronald Fream. However, it underwent a major change as the Bates Design Group took over and brought about massive improvements in quality in 2006. Further, in 2020, the general manager, Andrew Johnston, took over and also made quite a few changes to the course.

The major attraction of the course is the series of holes from the 3rd to 7th hole, which is called The Dragon’s Tail, the highlighting hole being the par-4 6th, running 444 yards long. With the landing area close to the water, the players need to hit the perfect tee shot to make the ball reach the bunkered fairway. The hole is protected by a rock formation, which is called The Dragon’s Tooth, in the front left bunker, which acts as an obstacle while putting.

The easiest and toughest hole at the Serapong Golf Course

The easiest hole on the Serapong golf course is the 587-yard-long par-5 4th hole. In 2023, the stroke average recorded on the hole was 4.451. It is a dogleg left hole, which requires the golfer to hit their tee shot to the right side of the fairway to have a clear shot, which can easily come with strategic planning. But it has a very daunting look from the tee. Making the hole is just a tad bit challenging. There are bunkers on the fairway. Nonetheless, a mighty blow off the tee helps them reach the green pretty much effortlessly.

The toughest hole is the 486-yard-long par-4 5th hole, which had a stroke average of 4.174 in 2023. It is also the signature hole of the course, with not just perilous obstacles but exceptionally breathtaking views of the Singapore skyline, facing one of the busiest ports in the world. The tee area off the landing is wide, with huge bunkers on both sides of the fairway. It essentially requires two strong hits to reach the tricky green.

The Sentosa Golf Club is sure to give you the experience of a lifetime. Be it a challenging shot on its toughest hole or a witness to birdies on its forgiving stretches! This is what makes the LIV Golf Singapore all the more enthralling!
