The USGA will be visiting the Newport Country Club for the 1,001 USGA Championship to be held in Rhode Island. This was the place where the first-ever US Open and US Amateur were held; The Senior Open is scheduled to start on June 27th with players like Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, Steve Stricker, and defending champion Bernhard Langer on the field.

Surprisingly, just like Pinehurst No. 2, Newport CC might display a nightmarish experience for the veterans too. Being a natural course, the fescue surrounding the fairways and the roughs could be a huge trouble for the pros. On top of that, predicted dry and humid weather might double the trouble for the Senior U.S. Open field.

One thing players should be prepared for at the Senior U.S. Open is that the weather at the Newport Country Club will be dry and hot. The forecast for the opening round on Thursday shows that it will be a pretty sunny day with temperatures as high as 80 °F.

Moreover, the humidity would also impact the golfer, as it would be around 67% humid, and then the biggest enemy would be the wind. Winds at Newport CC have been blowing between 10 and 13 mph. One staff member of the club even said, “If we get this kind of wind for the tournament, it would be perfect.”

In the first round, though, the wind would not be as intense and ranged between 5 and 10 mph, giving the golfer a chance to score well enough. Will Mother Nature be this kind on day two as well? Similar to the opening round, there would be fewer clouds and more sun. Per the Weather Channel, the temperature will fall between 74 °F and 61 °F.

However, the wind speed would be pretty low, as it would blow at a speed of 5 to 10 mph. While no precipitation would disrupt the play on the first two rounds, will it rain on the Saturday and Sunday rounds?

What will the weather be like on days three and four of the Senior U.S. Open?

After the 36-hole cut at the 45th Senior U.S. Open, a change of field would also be expected. Unlike the previous two days, on Saturday, the morning would be partly cloudy, and as the day passes, they will only grow. By the middle of the day, a few showers may even grace Newport CC.

The wind will be blowing at 10 to 15 mph, with the temperature soaring to 77 °F. Interestingly, on the final round of the Senior U.S. Open, the morning tee time players will be greeted by a thunderstorm, while those playing in the evening might incur an occasional shower. The wind in the final round will be most vehement, at a speed of 10 to 20 mph, while the temperature will stay in the 70s as usual.

As the weather forecast indicates, the Senior U.S. Open’s field will have some serious obstacles to cross, with the weather going haywire and the course playing tougher than ever. Who will come out of this test successfully and lift the 45th Senior U.S. Open’s trophy? It remains to be seen.
