Being a golfer is no easy feat, be it professional or amateur. The job demands time, dedication, motivation, and, more importantly, regularity. But what if this already demanding task is amalgamated with another rigorous task? It will probably not be an easy situation to manage. Well, that’s exactly what this 24-year-old golf star is dealing with.
The amateur golfer has found herself juggling multiple duties. Currently part of the incredible 156-player field this week, the youngster finds herself with a golf club in one hand and, of all things, a microphone in the other!

Emilia Migliaccio, the Wake Forest graduate, has an interesting week ahead of her. After her qualifying round, which was an exceptional show, Migliaccio found herself taking a spot on the playing field at the 2023 US Women’s Open. This, obviously, meant a great opportunity, especially for an amateur golfer, to showcase her skills.
However, the news of the qualification followed the already-offered job at NBC, which now spelled no rest for the golfer. Simply put, Migliaccio will alternate between the roles of a golfer and an NBC tournament broadcaster at the major tournament on one of the most famous golf courses. Just imagining the situation, it sounds like a lot of work. But the golfer appeared to be in good spirits regarding both duties.
Referring to whether she will make the cut or not, Migliaccio said, “Regardless of how I’m playing on Saturday or Sunday, I’ll definitely be out doing the featured groups. Because I enjoy it, and it’s going to be my job.” The budding reporter declared that she loves what she does and that this added responsibility has induced only excitement in her.

Just recently, the golfer got hitched, and she now spends her first couple of days as a wife shuffling between the two very demanding roles. Undoubtedly, her husband (who even caddies for her sometimes) will be there to support her as she takes on these tasks; however, the profundity of the circumstance will come to light on Thursday.
Migliaccio’s saving grace, however, is that this isn’t her first time multitasking! Last year at the Curtis Cup and this year at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the golfer encountered a similar state of affairs. While it isn’t new to her, to the golf world, these peculiar circumstances are certainly unfamiliar territory, and hence they chimed in with their own two bits all over social media.
Fans react to the unique position of Emilia Migliaccio at the major
Undoubtedly, Migliaccio’s situation is not a common occurrence at the US Women’s Open. Even golf fans agreed on similar lines as they praised the budding golf broadcaster for the same. One fan, in particular, commented, “Nice! That’s super cool! That honestly is a massive amount of talent I’m more in awe than anything. I can barely provide commentary of my own round in my head while playing.”
Another called it a “Class act“. Meanwhile, a couple of enthusiasts sounded skeptical about the situation. They said, “This could either be awful or amazing“, and “That’s awesome! Seems like a logistical nightmare though. Good luck!”

Furthermore, some of the fans could not stop themselves from calling out the news channel. They mentioned how they wanted her to focus on the major championship. Hence, one user said, “What? That sounds kinda ridiculous. Surely she would just focus on the golf tournament?”
A couple of other viewers also chimed in. They said, “You’d think they could give her the days off so she can focus on the important stuff”, and “What is this, seriously????!!!!! This is the best NBC has to offer???!!! Scraping the bottom of the bin….”
