The RBC Canadian Open concluded on June 11, 2023, and was beyond exciting. Nick Taylor emerged victorious at Oakdale Golf Country & Club. Taylor’s victory was a special one, and a remarkable victory needs a remarkable celebration. Well, this was the case until something absolutely bizarre happened on the course with a PGA Tour golfer.
A PGA Tour pro who is a good friend of the 2023 RBC Canadian Open was physically attacked inside the ropes, and what happened afterward made him win the hearts of many.

A PGA Tour pro gets physically tackled at Oakdale
Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin have been friends for a long time, and Hadwin was one of the players to witness his friend’s epic win on the 18th. He himself had finished at T12, but rather than feel bad about losing, he wanted to celebrate his friend’s win. Something any person would do!
So as a good friend, Hadwin did the sane thing and ran towards his friend with a bottle of champagne to celebrate. But what happened afterward will definitely knock your socks off! The 35-year-old golfer was mistaken for a rule-breaking fan and was physically tackled and taken down by the security guard. Just as more people came running and helped the golfer get up and pushed the guard off of him, the guard realized that he was not a fan but a PGA Tour pro, Adam Hadwin.
While he was being tackled to the ground, he did not let go of that bottle of champagne, but keeping the jokes aside, Hadwin did not make any fuss about the bizarre accident. He got up, hugged the guard who pinned him down, and let go of the incident with good feelings. He did not say anything brutal or mean to the guard. The glimpses of the pindown were shared by TSN Sports on Twitter.

Why was Nick Taylor’s win so memorable?
After motivating words from his wife, Nick became the first Canadian golfer since 1954—a long 76 years—to win the Canadian Open. Obviously, this was meant to be celebrated with a spritz of champagne. What made this historic win even more historic than it already is was the way Taylor won.

Canada’s own Taylor had an epic playoff with Tommy Fleetwood. It was the fourth hole of sudden death, the par-5 18th when the 35-year-old hit a 72-foot eagle, the longest putt of his career, that sent him into victory.
