The golf world is showing one strange incident at a time nowadays. And fans who go to the games to watch their favorite golfers live, aren’t only there to watch! Adding up to the unnecessary chaos, a fan recently tried to do something he thought was funny with Rory McIlroy.

Well, turns out it was not, as the golfer threw his joke in the water, literally. McIlroy’s action to the unnecessary interruption garnered mixed reactions from fans, especially on Twitter.

Rory McIlroy throws a fan’s golf ball in the water

It was the BMW Championship’s third round on Saturday when PGA Tour professional McIlroy had a rather weird encounter with a fan. A person tried to seek the attention of the golfer as well as the other spectators by sending in his remote-controlled golf ball. He tried to take the ball to the hole, but McIlroy was not in the mood to take it.

McIlroy tried to bat away the ball a few times. But the fan didn’t seem to stop. Frustrated, the golfer picked up the ball and threw it right into the pond next to him. Fans cheered even more as they saw McIlroy respond in such a way.

Is McIlroy joining LIV Golf?

Rory McIlroy has been a bold and fearless critic of the LIV Golf Tour. However, recently there have been rumors about him joining the Saudi-backed league. But contrary to the rumors, McIlroy made his stance clear in the recent press conference held on Tuesday. He said that people joining the LIV Tour are “taking the easy way out” to earn good money. “I don’t understand for the guys that are a similar age to me going because I would like to believe that my best days are still ahead of me,” he concluded.

Pointing toward players like Rory McIlroy, who are still loyal to the tour, Jay Monahan made a statement on Sunday. He said, “It’s my job to protect, defend and celebrate our loyal PGA Tour members, our partners, and our fans,”.

The PGA Tour has suspended 17 players who participated in the London event of LIV Golf. However, some LIV Golf rebels still wish to play in the PGA Tour events and are calling the ban unlawful. It is only a matter of time before we find out what the future holds for both the tours.
