Scottie Scheffler is currently the world number one, first reaching the position in the Official World Golf Ranking in March 2022, and has managed to hold on to that ranking for over 50 weeks now. Despite being the best, Scheffler has been having his set of struggles with putting, and that has been making him furious.
He has been so agitated that the golfer, who is known for his calm demeanor, seems to be losing his temper quite too often now. At the Waste Management Phoenix Open, while he struggled with his putting, he could not hold himself back and let out his emotions openly. Now, once again, Scheffler had another outburst at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

As the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational was underway, after an underwhelming front-nine attempt. Scheffler scored a birdie on the 10th hole but at the very next hole, the World No. 1 once again faltered. The 27-year-old was initially seen as calm and composed, trying to score his putt. However, the ball stopped just before it could enter the hole.
It was clear the missed chance did not sit well with the six-time PGA Tour winner. Visibly frustrated, Scheffler went towards the hole, dropped the ball, picked it up, and walked away extremely agitatedly. His missed putt resulted in him carding a bogey on the par-4 11th hole.
The entire ordeal was shared by Patrick McDonald on his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) through a short snippet. The golf writer went ahead to add a comedic twist to Scheffler’s outburst following his failed putt and captioned the tweet with three simple words, “Scottie too hottie.”

Scheffler carded four bogeys and six birdies in the round and ended the day with a score of 2 under par 70. Currently, he is at the top of the leaderboard, along with Shane Lowry, who also ended round three with the same score as World No. 1. Despite heading the leaderboard, his struggles with his putting have not gone unnoticed by the netizens, who chose to share their thoughts on the same on the internet.
The golf community worried about Ted Scott
To put an end to the putting woes, Scheffler even changed his equipment recently to a TaylorMade Spider Tour X (X1) putter with a 3-degree loft. But it looks like there is much more work that the 27-year-old needs to put in when it comes to his putts. Some of the people from the golf world not only shared how worried they were if Scottie Scheffler continued to play like this but also brought his caddie into the matter. One of them humorously commented:
I wanna see Scottie start unnecessarily blaming Ted Scott for reads. He survived 15 years with Bubba, he can take it.

Although Scheffler might be frustrated because of all the misses that he has been facing recently, there is no denying the fact that he is still at the top of the list. Will World No. 1 be able to maintain his position on the leaderboard or will his putting come in between his potential seventh victory on the PGA Tour?
