Scottie Scheffler became the only golfer (after Tiger Woods in 2001) to win THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters in the same season. Certainly, the world number one has been having a great run as he won three events in the last four starts. Amidst his massive stride to become the best golfer of today’s day and age, Scheffler may decide to bid the greens a short farewell.
It is apparent that soon Scheffler’s family will be growing and to take up the responsibilities of a father, the 27-year-old will change his schedule accordingly. At the RBC Heritage, Scheffler announced how golf will take a step back as he will be prioritizing his family.

At the Plaid Nation in South Carolina, Scottie Scheffler will be one of the hottest golfers to be playing and attempting his second consecutive win. Though much of the focus would be on his gameplay, last week another thing that grabbed the attention of the masses was his welcoming his first child. Subsequently, the 27-year-old was asked about the baby again and how will it affect his schedule going into the PGA Championship.
“Do the best I can,” Scheffler answered as he explained his future plans. Adding, he said that he would be spending more time at home with his wife, Meredith Scheffler, and revealed that once the baby is delivered, he will be taking a break. “But up until when the baby comes, I’m going to play this week and then I’ll go home and basically just wait. We’re due at the end of the month. We’ll see when the baby comes,” said Scheffler.
The world no. 1 reiterated his statement on golf never being his sole purpose in life and elaborated, “It never was my top priority, but I do love competing, and I put in the work. It’s going to take another notch down in priority when our child comes.” Moreover, he revealed how his family would always take the front seat, saying, “My family still comes first, and we’ll see how the prep work goes.”

Scheffler shares why he doesn’t like talking about his personal life
After sharing about his probable schedule change, Scheffler was asked how Meredith had been doing and if there were some early signs. To which he replied, “No, nothing yet.” Continuing, he expressed that at the Masters week things were probably taken out of proportion and said, “That’s why I feel like I don’t really talk about my personal life very much just because then I have to answer questions in here about it. It’s just a bit different.”

Circling back to the question of any early indications for the baby and his wife’s well-being, Scheffler revealed, “No signs of early labor anything like that. But she’s feeling good. Very tired but feeling good, and I’m sure she’s probably getting pretty close to having that baby.”
There remain four events before the PGA Championship commences, and by Scheffler’s clear indications, he may miss all of them to prepare better for the second major and give his family more of his time.
