Oz the Mentalist’s first ATM trick of this season came on CBS during the halftime of the Creighton-Louisville game in March. In this instance, Oz successfully guessed Kenny Smith’s PIN code (3030), ultimately forcing him to change the PIN code on the spot. Fans will be glad to know that this wasn’t the only ATM PIN he revealed that month, with the latest trick extending to Scottie Scheffler.

The Travelers Championship will not kick off until June; however, several golfers, including Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, and Xander Schauffele, attended the event’s early festivities at the Travelers Championship Media Day in March. As the golfers and Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, gathered around Oz the Mentalist, the magician performed one of the neatest tricks seen this month. Oz begins, “Gentlemen, we are here ahead of the Travelers Championship. There’s only one. It’s a Signature event. And it’s time to get inside each and every one of your minds.” And, with respect to the guy, he did exactly that.

Oz began the trick by asking Ted Scott to randomly choose four clubs from Scottie Scheffler’s bag without revealing them to anyone, especially Oz. He then asked Scheffler if anyone present knew his ATM PIN, to which the World No. 1 replied negatively. Next, he instructed Scheffler to think about his ATM PIN. As Oz announced numbers from 1 to 10, he observed the subtle changes in Scheffler’s expressions to figure out the code—and he succeeded in doing so.

After writing down the number in a notebook, he showed everyone the code before asking Scottie Scheffler to share his ATM PIN. And we kid you not, he wrote exactly what Scheffler answered: 5874. Oz asked Scott to reveal the clubs he had picked, and the code corresponded to the four clubs: a 5-iron, 8-iron, 7-iron, and 4-iron. Baffled and taken aback, everyone except Patrick Cantlay started laughing, with Schauffele exclaiming, “Oh, my gosh!” Scheffler asked, “When does this come out?” while Cantlay seemed curious to understand how Oz pulled off the neat trick.
But this wasn’t the first time Oz baffled tour pros. In 2024, Ryder Cup captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald met in New York City at Bethpage Black. Then, Oz the Mentalist performed a trick by asking Bradley to imagine holding a golf ball while vividly describing it. He then instructed Donald to envision a specific golf course. The trick ended when Oz placed his hands over Bradley’s, revealing a shiny new golf ball, and then showed Donald a ball with the logo of Pebble Beach Golf Links, the course he had been thinking of. This impressive illusion was just one of the many tricks Oz has pulled, including one at The PLAYERS.

At TPC Sawgrass on Friday, Justin Thomas wasn’t the only one making headlines with his 11-birdie round. While promoting the same partnership that featured the Scottie Scheffler trick, Oz the Mentalist joined the hosts of Golf Channel’s ‘Live From’ for a trick with Johnson Wagner. The performance began with Oz casually asking Wagner to imagine making a golf swing. He then instructed Wagner to demonstrate this imaginary swing while he picked up a board and pen. After that, Oz had Wagner step away from the desk to take another practice swing for everyone to see.
While Wagner swung, Oz wrote something on his board, keeping it hidden from view. Once Wagner finished, Oz asked him to close his eyes and stand still. With a touch of drama, Oz approached a nearby golf bag and selected a club, showing three fingers to the camera to indicate it was a 3-iron before quickly hiding it from Wagner.
When Wagner opened his eyes and Oz asked which iron he had imagined using, he replied, “3,” causing everyone to laugh. Additionally, when Oz inquired about his imagined distance and swing style, Wagner’s responses perfectly matched what Oz had written on his board (255 yards, “tight draw”) and drew varied fan reactions. One of the hosts even exclaimed that Oz is “some kind of wizard.” And really, is there any doubt?
