The much-awaited 2024 Showdown is all set to kickstart in just a few hours at the Shadow Creek Golf Course. After Donald Trump announced that he could easily solve the rift between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, this event was cited as a possible contour between the two leagues. A possibility of a fast-paced merger. But is it so?

Two biggest names from each of the leagues, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy from the PGA Tour, and Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka from LIV Golf will be having a face-off on Tuesday. And as it seems, as of now, although the entire golf world is gaga about the event, no PGA Tour pro has extended their support for the World No. 1 and No. 3. But for the LIV Golfers, the story is different.

The official Instagram account of Smash GC took to their wall, and the Range Goats GC Captain Talor Gooch was asked who would win. “Tomorrow, It’s the showdown Brooks and Bryson versus Rory, and Scottie all eyes on the Golf Universe. I want to know who’s going to win. And I think I know what you’re gonna say,” said Jason Fisher to Talor Gooch. And well, Gooch had the answer pretty clear in his head. He did not take any time to reply, “Let’s see I’m gonna go with it go with Brooks and Bryson.” In the caption they wrote, @talorgooch 🤝 going with the home team tomorrow @bkoepka & @brysondechambeau #TheShowdown”.

The 18-hole event will be divided into three segments to determine the winner. The first six holes will be played in a better ball format, where each player plays their ball, and the lowest score on each hole is used for the team’s score. But now the question is, who is more likely to grab a win?

PGA Tour vs the LIV Golf players’ performance in the 2024 season

Well, when it comes to the individual run, there is no doubt that among all the four players, Scottie Scheffler has had the best season so far. Being No. 1 on the OWGR list, without a single missed cut, and seven victories, does account for something right? But his teammate Rory McIlroy, is on World No. 3, above Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. But that is only because the latter do not have access to OWGR points.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy silence the LIV Golf hype at the 2024 Showdown?

Have an interesting take?

But Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka have had pretty much a similar season this year. Both have bagged two wins in their respective leagues. But when Bryson DeChambeau comes in, LIV Golf weighs in. Remember the 2024 US Open. How did he change the entire game by defeating Rory McIlroy by just one stroke? He might not have bagged a single win in LIV Golf, but he grabbed a win at the Major. Additionally, DeChambeau has been practicing his ace game with his challenges, which has only made things better. But when it comes to counting the average wins in the season, it is team PGA Tour that accounts for the win. But with so much practice time in their hands, who knows what is in store for the golf community?
