World no.1. Nine-time PGA Tour winner. Two-time Masters champion. A golfer destined for Hall of Fame glory. That’s how you (and me) know Scottie Scheffler. For his wife Meredith Scudder though, Scheffler, the giant burly man of 27, is still the ‘humble’ and ‘weird’ guy who was afraid to ask her out first.
Meredith in a candid chat with Golf Digest revealed a few things about her husband that the world didn’t know. The interview, done sometime after Scheffler’s 2022 WM Phoenix Open, resurfaced after his second Masters triumph. If anything, fans are sold on their charm.
Scottie Scheffler is the ‘weirdest’ person for Meredith

Scheffler likes to stay low-key. He drives the same car. He has been around the same friends since college. Some of whom he invited to Augusta to keep him company before Sunday. Scheffler doesn’t celebrate his victories with champagne showers. The routine has remained mostly the same, dinner with Mere and maybe an episode of The Office. The attitude has stayed the same since high school, Meredith Scudder revealed.
“At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously. Even when he had amazing accomplishments, that wasn’t the most important thing about him.”
Scheffler joked he was “intimidated” by her aura. “Can’t you tell how intimidating she is?” When that initial awkwardness was gone, Meredith discovered that his boyfriend was goofy & weird. “He was a lot more shy when we met. And then now I’m like he’s the weirdest person I know.” Weird or not, Scheffler is the role model for every husband, fans believe.
Scheffler is a true champion, on and off the greens
Not everyone can vow to withdraw from the Masters, that too holding a lead, to be with their wife during labor. As a past champion, Scheffler believed he would get future chances of winning another green jacket. But the feeling of having your first baby? That’s too precious. But Scottie Scheffler stayed firm on his initial promise.

One fan believes this year’s Masters was a display of ‘pure class’ and ‘integrity’, and none embodied it more than the champion himself. “Scottie winning on and off the field!” commented one fan.
Scheffler and Meredith are devout Christians. The Texas star said his victory was “secure on cross”. Further added the 2024 Masters champion, “I believe that today’s plans were already laid out many years ago, and I could do nothing to mess up those plans. I have been given a gift of this talent, and I use it for God’s glory.” Notably, he met his caddie, Ted Scott, in a faith-based ministry as well.

One fan commented, “2 followers of Christ. They’ll be just fine.” Great god loving couple and he will continue to bless them.” Another user too wrote, “Your faith shines a light on being a believer in God. I’m a fan.” There will be naysayers, but their future is secure, because “he [God] will continue to bless them,” one Instagrammer noted.
It is unlikely that the four-stroke victory on Sunday would change much for Scottie Scheffler. He drove to Inwood Tavern for a drink on Sunday night to celebrate his Masters triumph. Although, he would perhaps dub it as ‘winding off’ rather than celebrating.
