Scottie Scheffler has been called many things over the past few years, from the best golfer in the world to the weirdest guy ever, but one thing he has never been accused of being, until now, is funny. That is precisely what his good friend Sam Burns said, naming him the class clown of the Presidents Cup team.

Scottie Scheffler, though, disagrees, he said, “I’m usually fairly quiet. I usually just sit in the back and I kind of like watching.” To be fair to Scheffler, he doesn’t get up to any antics out on the golf course—mostly, he is rather reserved and does his business in a calm and focused manner. Indeed, Ryan Whitney said he was downright boring.

However, it was his wife who said the most intriguing thing about him, claiming that he was the weirdest person she knew. Although we don’t know the specific brand of weird that Scheffler is, he does seem rather funny in a droll way. He was said to be shy when he was younger and rather humble. But in videos on social media, he seems like a very laid-back person and has dry humor when joking around with other pros.

The mix of personalities is what makes team tournaments in golf so interesting. In other circumstances, we would see players with their caddie and one other player, going about the course in a focused manner. So, the question remains, who does Scheffler think is the funniest person on their team?

When asked the question himself, Scheffler was surprised, saying “Sam picked me as the class clown?” He was then asked to give his own opinion. He could’ve gone with other candidates, such as Max Homa, who is known for bringing the needle to the course. But he went with a different option and said, “I don’t know. Xander’s pretty — I think, if you put all of us in a room, Xander, I think, would probably have the loudest voice. I would say Xander would be the main class clown.

Xander Schauffele, for his part, does seem a lot of fun. Last year at the Ryder Cup, he brought out a celebratory cigar after the win, goading their opponents. Of course, it is hard to know what these guys are like behind closed doors, but even if they don’t have comedic timing, they will still entertain us with some incredible golf.
