Bubba Watson was never lacking in creativity. We have seen him find the green from many a difficult lie. However, it is tough to see how he can get himself out of the drop zone in the LIV Golf standings. But he may have found an idea that could improve his and his team’s chances of getting on the green more often.
Posting a short video of a pin on the green painted pink on his social media handles, he wrote, “Love the pins for the women’s member gues(t)s at troubadour…might have to copy this idea for the RangeGoats! #RangeGoatscolors #Troubadourlife”.

The pin was painted an almost exact shade of pink that his team on LIV Golf, RangeGoats, wear as a uniform. Heading into Chicago, the team stands in 9th place out of 13, with 50 points. They haven’t won a single LIV Golf event this year. Their best finishes were in Miami and Las Vegas, where they finished 2nd and 3rd.
Watson himself, as Team Captain, cannot be removed from the LIV Golf competition. However, he is 11th in the standings with 3.66 points. He has come under severe pressure for not performing this year, which is something he has acknowledged. “I told my team if they don’t think I am good enough to play, they can kick me out and we will put another good golfer in my place. I am going to play until they kick me out.” He has said that he would be open to not having a playing role on the team.

CEO of LIV Golf, Greg Norman, the Shark himself, has said of Watson that he is under pressure as anyone outside of the top 24 can be removed through relegation or free agency, and there are a lot of golfers who are itching to play in LIV Golf. LIV Golf is also said to be considering changing the rule that exempts captains from relegation in 2025. That brings us to the question of relegation.

This year, players who finish 49th and below will be automatically relegated as the inclusion of Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII has increased the field from 48 to 54 players. This year could see 5 players relegated, as Bubba Watson is exempt.

The players currently in danger of leaving the competition are Scott Vincent, Branden Grace, Laurie Canter (Reserve), Bubba Watson (Exempt), Kalle Samooja, and Kieran Vincent. Also at risk of being dropped out are Harold Varner III and Pat Perez of the Dustin Johnson-captained Aces GC. It should also be noted that golfers outside of the top 25 who are not picked up by a team can also be left out of the 2025 edition of LIV Golf.
