“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support,” said Tiger Woods a week ago after returning from the hospital following surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left foot. Recently, the PGA Tour shared a post on Instagram where Fred Couples also confirmed “He’s in great spirits for a ruptured Achilles he really is, he will be fine.” However, did you know that Woods was in high spirits even before the procedure? For that, he has Sam Woods to thank.

That’s right the GOAT’s daughter is the captain of the Benjamin High School girls’ soccer team. On March 1st the team faced off against Lakeland Christian at Spec Martin Stadium at the State Championship match. Although they were trailing 1-0 at halftime, things changed in the second half, thanks to Sam’s leadership and the team’s unwavering defense they held off Lakeland Christian and ultimately won by a 2-1 win.

That was also the school’s first girls soccer state championship in program history and it alone makes it very special for Sam. However, there is more. Dad Woods was present at the Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, Florida on the campus of Stetson University to support his daughter. And, yes he returned with a smile as he witnessed his daughter’s victory live and hugged her following the victory. Not long after that, the golfer announced his surgery and is now carefully recovering at home.

Woods hasn’t competed on the PGA Tour since July 2024 after he missed the Open Championship. Fast forward to the year 2025, times are still tough for him as he is still recovering from his mother’s passing in February this year. Yes, the golfer teed off at the 2025 Genesis but eventually withdrew. Now that Masters is on the horizon his participation remains a question. Although he hasn’t said anything yet about participating, former PGA Tour pro Paul Gow has some thoughts of his own.

What did Paul Gow say about Tiger Woods?

The last time Tiger Woods won was at the 2019 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP. Since then his health has been one of the major factors holding him back. This unfortunate saga started 31 years ago in 1994 when he went through surgery on his left knee to remove two benign tumors and scar tissue for the first time. Even after that, he was resilient about the game. Back in 2012, he said “Guys, I’ve done this before. I’ve been through this.” However, the human body has its limits, and for Woods, it appears he has reached that point, believes Paul Gow.

Recently, Gow was with the host of FOX Sports Australia and talked about Tiger Woods’s injury. First, the former golfer talked about TGL. “I think he’s primed for the TGL, isn’t he? He doesn’t have to walk anywhere,” he said. While doing so Gow further added “He defies everything that we think he’s going to achieve. He comes back every time, but there’s no need for him to come back at this stage. he has been the best of all time. And, uh, I don’t think he will play again.” Having 82 Tour and 15 major wins is no easy feat, but will this mark the end of Tiger Woods’ era? Only time will tell.
