With the Tour Championship ending, the speculations on the captain’s picks for the Ryder Cup are becoming more intense. Of the twelve players to represent Team USA, six will be picked directly from the top positions of the FedEx Cup leaderboard. The captain would pick the other six based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, the stats of the players.

Since his move to LIV Golf, Brooks Koepka‘s place on the Ryder Cup team has been much debated. While there are voices to support his spot on the team, there are those who might find it disappointing. In these circumstances, Jena Sims, Koepka’s wife, has posted a story on her Instagram that has revealed something interesting.

An active social media user in her own right, Jena Sims recently posted on her Instagram, a picture of Brooks Koepka. He holds a plate with pizza on it, and the plate has a USA flag printed on it.

Sims added laughing reactions to the post and mentioned, “Foreshadowing?” followed by Italian flags. She had also added an intriguing “IYKYK” with a golf icon in her story

The message is loud and clear.  The Italian Flags hint at the Ryder Cup, which will happen in Rome. Even the pizza is probably a hint too, as it appears. When you combine that with the laughs and the captions, it won’t be a stretch to assume that this is an unofficial announcement that Koepka has made it to the team.

This wasn’t entirely unexpected, though. Earlier, Brian Harman had commented on the fact that Koepka’s experience could come in handy with many rookies making it to the team.

Brooks Koepka’s addition, or omission, could create awkwardness within the team in either case. In fact, this could be true of public opinion as well. His decision to move with LIV has a role to play, in whether people think he should play the Ryder Cup.

Commentator Eamon Lynch mentioned in his article how Zach Johnson could face criticism irrespective of what his decision is. Lynch had shared his opinion that while any decision could invite controversy for Johnson, selecting Koepka could prove to be an intelligent choice.

In his own words: “Better to be slated for bringing a controversial soldier into battle than for leaving him in the barracks just because he’s a mercenary.”
