These past few years, the golf world has been on an absolute roller coaster ride. The crux of it all has been the inception of the LIV Golf Series. Just in its initial year, LIV Golf had become a headache for many other circuits, especially the PGA Tour. Since the PGA Tour is a longstanding golf fraternity, it is an utmost privilege for any golfer to be associated with it.

However, many elite players quit their prior tours after LIV Golf entered the picture, which sowed the seeds of hostility. But through a strange turn of events, we learned that LIV Golf will shortly join forces with the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. But the absence of LIV Golf defector Brooks Koepka in a recent picture highlights that old wounds do not heal so easily.

The US team is ready, but where is Brooks Koepka?

After switching to LIV Golf, the most severe consequence these players are facing is not getting a spot in the biennial event. For example, Ryder Cup veteran and one of the best players in the event, Sergio Garcia, left the DP World Tour and joined the Saudi-backed circuit. This decision cost him this year’s qualification for the Cup.

Along with Garcia, we also have Dustin Johnson, who clearly stated that had he been on the PGA Tour, he would have been a part of the US team. And the biggest price was paid by the Swedish golfer, Henrik Stenson. In March 2022, he was selected as a captain for the European team, but his decision to switch ships cost him his captaincy.

Of all the LIV golfers, only Brooks Koepka made it to the team. The reason is pretty simple: he won the PGA Championship this year and finished runner-up in the Masters. Even though he is part of the US team now, it feels like the PGA Tour is still not ready to accept him already.

The PGA Tour posted a picture of the US warriors saying they were heading to Rome for the event. The post was captioned, ”It’s go time 🇺🇸.”

One fan is excited about the matches but also concerned about where Koepka is. He wrote, ”Where’s @bkoepka? USA!  🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸”

The most common reactions were: ”Where’s the captain, @bkoepka?” and ”Why post this without Brooks?”

One fan cleared up all the queries and gave the whole explanation for why Koepka is not in the picture. She wrote, ”Brooks and Jena had to miss the flight because they were coming from the LIV event in Chicago.”
