After a disappointing day 1 wherein Americans failed to perform well, they, trailing by five points, now head into day 2 with new hopes and ambitions. In the midst of this, the Ryder Cup’s American team captain makes some unforeseen confessions about the health issues in the team.

Zach Johnson Praises European Team and Discusses Health Situation

In an interview by Golf Channel, conducted on the golf course itself, the American team captain, Zach Johnson, was asked about the “unforeseen circumstances in the locker room” and why he said he was glad there was a doctor on site.

Johnson said, “I mean, they’re responding well; they’re on antibiotics. I mean, it really is that simple… kind of a head cold, nothing more than that.”

Expressing his gratitude toward the doctor, he said, “I’m just grateful that we have who we have around us.” He also added more information by telling that the response has been great so far.

Johnson also proved to be a truly high-spirited captain, and while he wasn’t happy with the performance of his team, he praised the European team for playing phenomenal golf.

The American team captain mentioned that he was not expecting the performance that the European team gave out. However, he also injected some optimism into the equation, saying, “It’s a new day, a new opportunity, and the guys have been extremely positive.”

He went on to praise the leadership of the vice-captains, highlighting how it has been amazing so far. He emphasized that today they will be on the course doing what they do best.
