The 2023 Ryder Cup, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments is just around the corner with less than a month away. The field for this year will be set in Rome, Italy and the 24 golfers, from all of Europe and America will go head-to-head with each other in teams of 12. The 44th edition of the Ryder Cup will be indeed an epic showdown! The first half of the European and American teams are all set and were decided after the conclusion of the penultimate FedEx Cup playoff, that is BMW Championship. 

Quite a few shocking things took place in the American team in terms of automatic qualification, such as Brooks Koepka missing his long-held spot! The fans are now coming into his support and it is very endearing to see amid all the LIV Golf and PGA Tour drama that has been there for quite a long time now!

Ever since the Saudi-funded league was introduced, it has been on the fans’ radar who have always viewed it as a rival league and a threat to the game of golf. There always has been a tuff between the fans who have appreciated LIV Golf for its new format and the PGA Tour loyal fans. But all the feud just goes into vain when the matter in discussion is the nation’s glory or the 2023 Ryder Cup. 

All the golf fans were shocked to learn that Brooks Koepka missed the automatic qualifying spot in the Ryder Cup standings after Xander Schauffele reached the 6th spot. Keopka fell into the 7th position, and his spot on the team just came into jeopardy. 

Fans have a lot of their picks decided for the remaining 6 spots and the two names that keep popping up repeatedly are Rickie Fowler, and Brooks Koepka, and rightfully so! The two golfers have shown stunning resilience and skills the entire season. Koepka has won a major this year and finished in the second position in Masters.

Fowler has also showcased stellar skills all throughout the season whilst performing exceptionally well in majors and playing well under pressure. He also won a PGA Tour event this year, Rocket Mortgage Classic, and ended his years-long winless drought. 

 

With good backing should Rickie be given a chance over Brooks Koepka…. Or does Justin Thomas still have a chance? Maybe DJ also would be nice since he has good leadership skills. What do you think guys?

In the discussion, there were mentions of including Justin Thomas in the team even after a disappointing year, and Dustin Johnson having a chance as well because of his leadership skills.

One golf fan shared their hysterically concerning plans if Koepka fails to make the team, and said, “If brooks doesn’t make the team, we riot.”

Yet another fan commented in Koepka’s favor and wrote,If Koepka isn’t on the team, there’s no integrity left in this world..”

One fan supported the 5x major winner on the basis of merit but had genuine concerns with the media coverage that would follow. The commented, “I think any LIV player will be a distraction and take away from the team aspect. Brooks deserves on merit, but I think the media wont know what else to talk about.”

While listing 3-4 golfers from the former rival leagues, a fan approved of Koepka being on the team along with one PGAT pro, while rejecting all the others, “Brooks – yes, Glover – yes, Fowler – no, JT – no.”
