The anticipation is growing with each passing day now that the members of the European and American teams have been revealed.

Fierce competition between the best golfers in the world is expected, make no mistake. We may encounter new rivalries and bittersweet moments on the course. The ”Battle of Marco Simone”, however, appears to have already begun. Let’s find out how.

To familiarize the whole squad with the golf course, Captain Zach Johnson of Team USA led his troops, which includes players like Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas, on a pre-scouting expedition to Rome. Team USA informed their fans through a video that there were some thick, dense roughs at Marco Simone.

When the ball is thrown into the rough in the video as a demonstration, it simply vanishes. Team Europe, however, does not agree with them. It seems like they are already throwing shade at the US team.

Following the conclusion of the Irish Open, the entire European Ryder Cup team is also in Rome for practice sessions. And they have a pretty interesting response, rather teasing, to their counterparts’ post.  The Ruder Cup Europe post was captioned: ”How wide are you planning on hitting it lads??”

It’s clear that the mind games have already started on both sides, adding to the fun not a little. Let’s see how fans react to the video.

This is top-tier trash talk

Fans sure enjoyed the post taking a dig at the US camp. They shared their opinions in spades under the post. Flushing It, which is a notable account for golf-related things, loved the post.

For one fan, this is the ultimate shade thrown at Team USA, and now can’t wait for the actual competition to kick off.

For another fan, Team Europe already has gone 1-0 up even before the tournament has teed off.

Golfer Jordan Powell approved the burn. He couldn’t help but laugh.

One fan supported Team Europe and reminded everyone regarding Justin Thomas’ recent not-so-strong form.

One fan joked that it was Rory McIlroy who posted the video.

For one fan, the absence of Ryder Cup veterans Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter is disappointing. And their absence might cost the European team.
