Ever since the captain’s picks for the US Ryder Cup team became public, there have been some strong opinions about the list. This was bound to be a hot topic, especially considering the challenges involved in the selection process. There were at least ten potential candidates on the list, and only six could have been chosen.
Of the top 15 players in the Ryder Cup standings, the top six qualified directly for the team. Of the remaining nine, however, three did not make the list. Considering the big names that missed their shot at the prestigious event, fans have been quite vocal with their thoughts. While most were upset by the skipped players, even more had an issue with one pick: Justin Thomas!

The list of Zach Johnson’s picks for the US Ryder Cup team in 2023 includes Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Rickie Fowler, and Justin Thomas. There were four players in the top 16 that were skipped from being picked: Cameron Young, Keegan Bradley, Denny McCarthy, and Lucas Glover.
Fans are of the opinion that some names on the list should be replaced to make room for the more deserving. However, there is one name people have been focusing on as a bad pick for the team in particular, and that’s none other than JT.
A recent tweet from NUCLR GOLF asked the golf world if they would have picked Thomas given the choice, and it certainly seems like they wouldn’t. In fact, one fan even outright accused Thomas’ pick of being related to his close bond with golf legend Tiger Woods.
JT is really milking that friendship with Tiger. He’s the most overrated player on the tour.

The fans’ reactions, of course, aren’t all that surprising considering that Justin Thomas did not even make the top 70 cut for the FedEx St.Jude Championship. In fact, since June this year, JT has played in five tournaments and missed the cut in four of them. Let’s browse through what other fans have shared in the comment section about their pick for the PGA Tour star.
Fans do not seem happy with Justin Thomas being chosen
The golf world did not waste time with their opinions. Flooding NUCLR GOLF’s post with their thoughts, they invariably took a strong stance against JT.
One fan put out an objective question regarding the golf pro being picked.
How many cuts did he make this year?

Another commenter took the time to explain why Thomas may not be the best pick for the team.
He’s been really struggling with his game, he has been picked on the assumption he just gona find some form out of nowhere just because it’s the Ryder cup. Personally wouldn’t have picked him

Yet another fan took a dig at Thomas, saying he should not have been picked. This time not because of his skill on the course but off it!
Nope… can't handle his beer…

While many chimed in against Thomas, others rallied in support of Keegan Bradley, whose name had not made it to the final 12.
Thank you, Zach, for not picking Bradley!

I’ve been saying it, but I think Keegan should’ve been picked over JT. His major play this year has been abysmal. I know it’s not directly related but to me it’s big time golf and not a good sign. #RyderCup2023

Other fans even commented with names they would have picked over JT and the current list.
Pass on JT and go with Bryson or Keegan
