The Ryder Cup is just around the corner, with less than a month remaining for the glorious tournament. Both the teams, Europe and the USA will go head to head with each other in Rome in the pursuit of national glory. Team USA will fight to retain the Ryder Cup honor, whereas Team Europe will be looking to avenge their defeat at Whistling Straights back in 2021. It has been some days since the American team has been finalized.

But the European team was announced less than 24 hours ago! European captain Luke Donald attracted a lot of backlash for his bold picks from the golf fraternity but now he is comparing his boldest pick Ludvig Aberg to golf stars such as Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy.

Ludvig Aberg is the rising star on the DP World Tour and recently he displayed stellar skills in Switzerland with his first professional win at Omega European Masters 2023. He was able to impress the European skipper with his two-stroke victory.

In the media conference that followed the captain’s picks announcement, Nick Dougherty, a retired English golfer, asked Donald how easy or difficult the decision was to choose a new guy who has just turned pro.

Showcasing his confidence in the young star, Donald said, “I really do have a lot of faith and belief in Ludvig. I think he’s a generational player. He’s going to be around a long time. He’s going to do amazing things.” He said if not this Ryder Cup, he would have played the future eight Ryder Cups because he is that good.

The skipper praised Aberg’s Sunday win and appreciated him for his speed and “most amazing shots.” The golfer just did not stop here and even said that the chances of Aberg surpassing McIlroy and Scheffler are pretty high.

Urging the fans to look at Aberg’s statistics, he said, “He would be the No. 1 driver in the world ahead of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. That’s pretty high standards for someone that’s just come out of college.”  With his selection, Aberg just created a record in golf that nobody was expecting anytime soon.

Aberg creates history with 2023 Ryder Cup confirmation

Aberg is a young professional golfer from Sweden who has just created history. He turned pro in June and has been selected by Luke Donald to compete in the Ryder Cup. By participating in the Ryder Cup 2023, the golfer just achieved a milestone that no golfer has ever achieved before.
