While facing negativity and roadblocks on its journey ahead of the January launch, Tiger Woods‘ TGL is progressing steadily in its process. As the players have mostly been onboarded to the league, team signings have started off. Justin Thomas inaugurated the process by signing a deal with the Atlanta Golf Club.
Now, following JT, Collin Morikawa has signed up for a team as well. He is the first player to join the LAGC, co-owned by Alexis Ohanian. A video of Morikawa’s call with Ohanian found its way onto the web, and fans have bashed Morikawa and the league alike in the comment section.

Collin Morikawa recently received a call from Alexis Ohanian about joining the LAGC. A video of the call came up online on NUCLR Golf’s Twitter handle. Although they had credited LAGC’s Twitter handle for the video, LAGC’s handle hasn’t shared the video on their profile.
The video call between them was about Alexis Ohanian offering Morikawa a spot on the LAGC, and he was more than thrilled. He compared it to the Ryder Cup selection call and said this almost tops that moment. Well, almost!
Morikawa showed a lot of enthusiasm on the call. He tried to express immense surprise and extensive gratitude for the collaboration. The golf world did not take it well, though. They trolled the whole concept of the video and started accusing him of being pretentious.
🚨🏌🏻♂️📱Collin Morikawa’s was ecstatic as he received the call to join @WeAreLAGC from @alexisohanian: “I just got chills through my body, I don’t think I’ve ever answered a call like this, I got my Ryder Cup call this year, but I think this tops it almost.”

One comment satirically asked, “Was this the 12th or 13th take shooting the video?”. Alexis Ohanian spotted that comment and said, “One take 😎” The Twitter user extended that exchange and wrote, “Such a natural actor, I see a future in his career.”
There were more such reactions and responses in the comment section. Let’s take a look at some entertaining ones.
Fans roast Collin Morikawa heartlessly
The comments roasted Morikawa for mentioning the Ryder Cup mainly and also for his allegedly ingenuous expression of joy. They also dragged some past connections into the conversation.
This Twitter user referenced a bank commercial that Collin Morikawa had acted in. The ad features a mini-golf variant involving an elephant model. The trunk of the elephant keeps moving left and right, blocking the hole each time it passes through. Morikawa had to hole the ball with his precise timing while talking to a lady from the bank.
The comment read, “DOES HE KNOW THERE ARE NO ELEPHANTS?!” Reading through the backstory was worth it, right?

One comment brought back the history of a LIV golfer making a Ryder Cup mention, comparing it with LIV Golf.
Didn't a liv guy say something similar and get absolutely roasted? Let's compare the two please

Another fan got serious about the video, which they found staged and ingenuous. They explained how they felt this whole concept would have been channeled down from the marketing team of the league.
Worst part is how disingenuous it is. No chance that was an authentic statement, which tells me marketing for TGL told his manager to tell him to say that and for that many ppl to green light and then for him to go along with it is just criiiinge bro

Yet another fan expressed regret over golf’s current state, disappointed at this current set of events.
What has golf come to where we have guys comparing the Ryder cup to an indoor simulator league

A Twitter user used the “all you had to do” meme pattern and trolled the mention of the Ryder Cup.
All you had to do was not mention the Ryder Cup.

And as always, there was one comment about the financial angle. One user wondered if it was the check that was making Morikawa talk.
Sooo… He got excited about joining an indoor golf simulator league?
Or was it because of the check he's going to get?
