Did the Ryder Cup magic trick deserve more applause, or was it just a predictable gimmick?

The 45th edition of the Ryder Cup is almost here, and the preparations and countdown have begun. European Team Captain Luke Donald and American Team Captain Keegan Bradley attended an event in New York on Tuesday to preview the tournament, which is scheduled to be held from September 25 to September 28. The event was similar to a press conference, featuring other notable members like Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Sergio Garcia.

However, it wasn’t just all questions. The captains were treated to a bit of fun at Bethpage. After the press conference, Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley gathered with special guest Oz Pearlman, an American athlete and magician. There’s no doubt the duo had a great time and left amazed by his skills. Oz the Mentalist wowed the crowd with a trick.

Luke Donald was asked to think of a golf course where he would like to be at that moment, and how it felt being there. He replied, “Pebble Beach.” Before asking the question, Pearlman had Keegan Bradley close both of his hands to create a vacuum. As soon as Donald answered, Pearlman pulled a ball out of Bradley’s hands with “Pebble Beach” printed on it.

The golf world has been divided ever since the inception of LIV Golf, and although a merger was announced last December, no significant advancements have been made. The ongoing rift between the leagues, along with declining viewership and attendance, has left many fans dissatisfied.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Ryder Cup magic trick deserve more applause, or was it just a predictable gimmick?

Have an interesting take?

Even the much-awaited Masters and the Presidents Cup had declining audiences. After watching Instagram sensation Oz Pearlman pull off a trick like that, some were indeed impressed, but only by the trick itself. Appreciating the talent, they moved on to football pros. People left comments like, Shook once again!! OZ is off the chain 💯 who’s winning the Super Bowl this year??”

Some even bashed Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald for not giving a reaction as great as Oz the Mentalist’s trick deserved. They simply shared a laugh, and that was all. According to the golf community, there was no appreciation at all. In response, people left comments like, “Deserved a better reaction. Back to football players lol” and “Bro this is wasted on the fools! This guy is unreal! I would expect people to spontaneously pass out after seeing this man perform! an absolute bucket list to somehow see something this crazy!”

However, some were simply unimpressed by the trick. During the video, one of them spotted a loophole. Well, every magic trick does have a loophole. Pebble Beach is a rather significant golf course and is also a top favorite among most pro golfers, so it was an easy guess to make. Even if the video was not scripted, Pearlman could have easily guessed the course. Referring to the loophole, one of them wrote, “You can see him placing the ball in the back opening of his hand 👏🔥👏”. Another, being sarcastic, simply commented, “🤦‍♂️ incredible OZ”.
