Crazy about watching the Ryder Cup in person? It’s going to cost you. Don’t believe us? Well, you can just ask the authorities of the Bethpage Black in New York. They have bumped up the prices for the tickets to the upcoming biennial tournament in 2025. And they have done so much so that it came to rival one of Donald Trump’s most expensive courses when it came to the dollar bills being charged, the Trump Turnberry’s Ailsa Course, Scotland.

Coming back to the Ryder Cup, the venue decided to mark the tickets as high as $225 for those willing to attend the practice rounds. On the other hand, those fans looking to watch the tournament over the three days from Friday to Sunday will have to pay as much as $750 per day to get one ticket. “Fans hoping to attend the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York are looking at high ticket prices,” wrote NUCLR GOLF in a tweet they shared on their X handle.

It seems like quite a price for fans who look forward to catching the showdown between America and Europe. Especially so if you are an American fan who is hoping to watch the team clinch the trophy and the title of champions back from the Luke Donald-led team. Because, back in 2023, the European squad had defeated the Zach Johnson-led group, 16.5 – 11.5.

But when you compare the prices of Bethpage Black to that of Donald Trump’s course in Scotland, it does fall a bit short. The ex-POTUS will, surprisingly, charge a sum of $1,296 to tee off and play a round of golf before 1:00 p.m. at the Ailsa course. However, it will drop down to $706 after 1:00 p.m.

Before this, Trump Turnberry’s Ailsa Course used to charge only $228 for a round of golf. Then why did they decide to bump up the dollar bills? Makes you curious, doesn’t it? Well, the course fee hike has been made to ensure the tee times for the guests of the resort who want to tee off at the grounds, which are dubbed “one of the top five golf courses in the world.”

The reason behind Donald Trump’s course’s fee hike

Are Ryder Cup ticket prices at Bethpage Black justified, or just a cash grab from fans?

Have an interesting take?

“We were finding that a lot of people were booking up tee times during the peak times of the year,” divulged Nic Oldham, the general manager of the Turnberry course, in an interview with Bunkered. That seems like a good development, right?! The answer to that would be a ‘No’, for the people who booked the same “only came to play golf and then left,” as per Oldham. What’s more, he also mentioned how the new prices make it much better to stay at the resort under a package including a room and golf instead of just booking the course for the sport.

“That’s better for the golfer because they’re getting a full five-star experience,” added the general manager. “But it’s also better for Turnberry. We need to make sure all parts of our business are viable. Simply selling rounds of golf isn’t a sustainable business model.” That does make sense, to be honest.

But even so, it doesn’t explain why Bethpage Black bumped up its prices. Maybe it was just a way to rake in more dollar bills for the organizers, or there might have been something else behind the decision. Regardless of the reason, the fans sure need to dig out what’s left in their pockets to indulge in their Ryder Cup fantasies.
