The Ryder Cup is hovering over the golf world and golf mommy Paige Spiranac is completely invested. And why not? The teams are taking shape for the tournament next month in Rome. And in line with her personal tradition, Spiranac is at it again revealing her hot picks.

Spiranac’s latest choice is also a LIV Defector who has recently suffered a massive setback. With almost a month left for the battle, it would be interesting to see who makes the other half of the squad. But let’s first dive into who the golf beauty supports and why!

Paige Spiranac is a loyal Brooks Koepka supporter

On Tuesday, the former golfer-turned-influencer took to her podcast, Playing a Round with Paige, to share her opinions. As per her, there were some choices she suggested that American captain Zach Johnson should make.

She picked up Brooks Koepka from the LIV Golf circuit to compete for Team USA. She believes Johnson should pick him because he “plays well under pressure, loves competition, and has experience.” Another choice of hers was Jordan Spieth because of his prior Ryder Cup experience and the fact that he “gels well with the team.”

She also talked about Collin Morikawa. But to omit him. She said, I’m not going to have him on the team. His potting is so dicey, especially under pressure, that I don’t have full confidence in him to be able to execute when it matters.”

Golf mommy has always been a loyal supporter of Koepka. And this camaraderie extends off-field as well, with Spiranac admiring Koepka as a husband and human being beyond his golfing avatar. He was also one of her top 3 picks for the US Open earlier this year.

Her co-host Samantha Marks also agreed on Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth as valuable assets to the team. Do you think Zach Johnson will listen to her advice while picking out names? Especially amid the displacement of Koepka from the top 6 automatic qualifications?

Five-time major champion, Brooks, will now need Zach Johnson’s trust in his abilities. He left the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf last year and as a result featured in very few OWGR-approved tournaments.

Despite the ban from the PGA Tour since last year, Koepka played and won the PGA Championship due to the exemption. Earlier to that he had finished tied second at the Masters. As a result, he was one of the six players in the Ryder Cup counting, based on automatic qualification. But the joy lasted a while because of Max Homa and Xander Schauffele’s performance in the FedEx Cup event, BMW Championship, last week. Their good performances ensured that Brooks Koepka was out of the top-six

Zach Johnson will reveal his picks on August 29, after the last tournament, Tour Championship, concludes in Atlanta. And his focus lies on choosing the right and the best players for his team. The half of the squad is Scottie Scheffler, Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, and Xander Schauffele through automatic qualification.

And the rest of the six will be the captain’s pick. The US team has not won the event away from home since 1993 and all the distraction that has come from the LIV-PGA confusion doesn’t boost their chances much, if truth be told. Who do you think Zach Johnson should choose? And do you agree with Paige Spiranac’s choices? Let us know in the comments below.
