In this age of social media we’re living in, what’s one way couples hint at a possible breakup? Maybe deleting pictures of each other that they may have previously posted? Well, that’s precisely what hinted at an impending divorce between Ashley and Pat Perez. When BroBible discovered these peculiar actions, it unearthed a filing of the couple’s divorce at the Maricopa County Superior Court. And since then, the news of their split has taken the golf community by storm.

Since tying the knot on New Year’s Eve of 2015, Pat Perez has had a very vocal supporter in his corner in Ashley. Until now. But in the past nine years, Ashley came under fire for saying things like she wanted to see Rory McIlroy get “punched in the face,” among other things. So, as the couple is close to ending their marriage, let’s look at the moments when Pat and Ashley Perez found themselves in twisted waters.

Ashley Perez has never been one to shy away from expressing her views on the internet, becoming infamous for her stern opinions along the way. Last year alone, she sparked much controversy by taking a shot at an already heated subject related to Rory McIlroy. While the news of McIlroy’s Ryder Cup parking lot altercation with Caddie Joe LaCava was making the rounds, Ashley jumped into the conversation and wrote, “I can’t possibly be the only one that would absolutely love to watch Rory get punched in the face. I mean, in the nicest way possible… kinda.”

In 2023, another sensational incident that occurred nine years ago was swirling around, involving Perez’s LIV Golf companion Phil Mickelson. As per the reports from 2015, Mickelson invited Perez and Ashley to dinner in New Jersey during the Barclays Tournament. During the get-together, when Perez went to the washroom, Lefty showed Ashley a “photograph of himself that she found offensive.” Following this, the relationship between the golfers became strained.

In the past, Tiger Woods has been on the receiving end of Pat Perez’s soon-to-be ex-wife’s criticism as well. When the golf legend sustained significant injuries after a car crash in February 2021, Ashley placed baseless allegations on Woods, claiming that he was driving while intoxicated, connecting his accident to a DUI  he received back in 2017. As fans called for a golf cart to be provided to Woods when he returned, Ashley commented, “Literally, driving under the influence is illegal. I don’t feel bad for him. Thank God he didn’t kill anyone. See ya.”

Ashley doesn’t just have strong opinions about professional golfers. She has a bold personality overall, something that became evident when her husband’s decision to join the Saudi-funded league was met with backlash.

Ashley’s social media outburst when Pat Perez joined LIV Golf

In 2022, when Perez decided to join LIV Golf, his social media accounts, along with Ashley’s, were filled with hate. In a wild response, Ashley shared a video of herself on Instagram in which she defended Pat Perez’s move to LIV Golf. She said, “My Instagram is solely based on my family. So, if anybody feels the need to say anything negative about Pat going to the LIV tour, you will be blocked.”
