The LIV Golf players have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour for suspending them. Although the verdict is not out yet, the golf world got to know about something valuable from it; the Tour had suspended Phil Mickelson from the organization a bit earlier than we all had expected.
According to reports, the antitrust claim made by 11 LIV players, including Mickelson, revealed that he had been suspended since March! “On March 22, 2022, the Commissioner suspended Plaintiff Mickelson (with the opportunity to apply for reinstatement in May of 2022),” the lawsuit read.
After making controversial comments about the league and Tour officials, Mickelson posted an apology letter online. The letter also revealed that the golfer is to take a break from golf for a while. From the complaint, many from the golf world figured that the Tour suspended the 6-time major champion a month after he posted the letter.

How long would the suspension of Phil Mickelson last?
According to the lawsuit, Mickelson had applied for reinstatement from the suspension in June. However, the Tour denied his request as he played in the inaugural event of the LIV Series in London.

“The Tour extended Plaintiff Mickelson’s suspension,” the lawsuit further read. “Forbidding him from seeking reinstatement to play professional golf with the Tour until March 31, 2023.” Notably, the complaint also explains that after Mickelson attended the Portland LIV Golf event, the Tour extended the opportunity to reinstate until after March 31, 2024.

Interestingly, Mickelson had played in the Invitational Series tournament in Bedminster as well. However, the 105-page complaint didn’t have any suspension extension period regarding the same. Therefore, if the court order goes against the LIV players, he can play in a Tour event after two years.
Twitter reaction to the new revelation
Mickelson joining the LIV Series was not something many fans had expected. Therefore, many are still mad at him for jumping ships and forgetting the legacy he created on the Tour.
So sad he is ruining his legacy over LIV.

Moreover, Lefty couldn’t make any cut in the majors, the only events he played other than LIV, since his comeback through the London event. Hence, many fans used the opportunity to point it out.

I guess they just wants justice to be served. They believe they have the right to play on PGA tour if they want to. Now the court has to decide one's and for all.
