Where in the world is Scottie Scheffler? That’s probably what every golf fan has been wondering as the PGA Tour wraps up its third event of the year. Well, earlier he was resting, but now, not so much. You see, after dominating in 2024, fans were expecting a banging Scheffler’s return. But that did not happen. We all know why! #1 had to withdraw after puncturing his right palm on broken glass while prepping for Christmas dinner. Talk about a Christmas to remember!

At that time, his manager, Blake Smith, reassured everyone, saying, “He (Scheffler) has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks.” This means he was supposed to show up at the latest American Express, but that did not happen either. The golfer shared that his medical team has suggested he take more rest. Now, we’ll see him at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM (officially). Unofficially, we have already seen him. In the gym!

A video, originally shared by Dr. Troy Van Biezen, who is a performance coach, shows Scheffler engulfed in a workout session. He has been with the PGA Tour for 21 years. The golfer is training, probably for his return, and his hand looks all pain-free now. Well, that’s what he’s holding the equipment with, so yeah! As the doctor had put it, “trust the process, celebrate the success.” This is what exactly Scheffler seems to be doing.

Scheffler and Biezen have been working together since the former was 14. “I think that was a wakeup call for Scottie that if you want to be a good golfer and you want to play pain-free, it’s time to start taking golf seriously and start doing a lot of things off the golf course,” Van Biezen said in 2024. “That’s kind of where it clicked. Ever since then, he’s been a beast in the gym.”

They do metabolic training, hypertrophy and strength training, and cardiovascular exercises like speedball work, skiers, rowers, and Wattbike. The increased endurance paid dividends, especially in those crucial Sunday rounds. “We’ve just gotten to a point where I’ve been able to get rid of a lot of the aches and pains I used to deal with when I was in college and I’ve gotten to a place where my body I feel like is really healthy, and so we’ve been able to build some muscle and endurance from there. But it was a long journey to get to a point where I was in balance for a long enough period of time where we could actually start building a little bit of muscle,” said Scheffler about his regime.

Now that Scheffler seems to be doing well, can we discuss how serious was injury to begin with? The golfer said it was just a freak injury, but he did take time off.

How serious was Scottie Scheffler’s wound?

So, just how bad was Scottie Scheffler’s injury? Turns out, it wasn’t as scary as it initially sounded. According to medical experts, injuries like this are pretty manageable, assuming there’s no infection, of course. The body is a pro at healing itself: first, it forms a clot to stop the bleeding, then a scab takes over as the body works its magic underneath. If his hand felt a little itchy during the process, that’s actually a good sign things were on the mend. Fast forward a few weeks, and he’s likely left with nothing but a scar and a reminder to keep those million-dollar hands far away from sharp kitchen tools.

But let’s not forget who we’re talking about here. Scheffler wasn’t just playing golf last year, he was seriously owning it. Nine titles. Seven of them were on the PGA Tour. Back-to-back wins at The Players Championship and The Masters. And of course, his Olympic gold medal in Paris and the FedEx Cup win at the Tour Championship. Seriously, does it get more dominant than that? His 2024 resume was an absolute flex, and even with this unexpected setback, it’s hard to imagine anyone knocking him off his game for long.
