Is Rory McIlroy making the right move by considering a new caddie? What do you think?

How much do you know about golf? Unsure about your knowledge level? Now you have a chance to prove it, thanks to Rory McIlroy, currently ranked #3 in the OWGR. Yes, you read that correctly. The four-time major winner is offering fans an opportunity through an exciting competition.

The prize for this competition is a once-in-a-lifetime experience: the winner will have the chance to caddie for McIlroy at the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. While the tournament will commence from August 15–18 at TPC Southwind in Tennessee, entries for the competition are already open. Interested fans can visit https://email.alpinef1.com/ to register themselves.

The competition is organized in collaboration with the Alpine Formula 1 team, in which McIlroy is an investor. The organizers will cover all flight, hotel, and hospitality expenses for the lucky winner, who will have the opportunity to not only meet but also caddie for the Northern Irishman for 9 holes during the Wednesday practice round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Aside from the one lucky winner, there are prizes for five runner-ups as well. They will receive, courtesy of GolfPass and GolfNow, prize bundles. While it may not be as glamorous as caddying for the Northern Irishman, it is still a significant prize given the level of competition. The last day for registration is July 31st at 6:59  p.m. ET, so hurry up and register yourself. Regardless of the winner’s performance at the practice round as a caddie, they cannot steal Harry Diamond’s job.

Is Rory McIlroy still staying with Harry Diamond after the US Open blunder?

After the Irishman bogeyed the 18th hole at the US Open, he didn’t speak to the media for weeks. Meanwhile, Eddie Pepperell, the former British Masters, talked about McIlroy on The Chipping Forecast podcast. While doing so, he also talked about McIlroy’s caddie and said, “My immediate takeaway is that with a stronger caddie, he would not have made the bogey he made on the 15th. It was a poor choice of club, and he hit in the one place he shouldn’t have hit it, and then, and from that point onwards, I think that’s the bogey that changed the momentum and his mindset more than anything.”

Pepperell further suggested that the Irishman should consider changing his caddie. However, Rory McIlroy believes something else and says, “They are never there to say Harry did such a great job when I win, but they are always there to criticize when we don’t win,” to Golf.com. Although the golfer’s statement wasn’t exactly a reply to Pepperell, it’s clear that he still trusts Diamond as his caddie and will continue to work with him.
